Heisler/Kadee help

Gents,

I have recently purchased a Heisler from our own TOC and am interested in what others have done to body mount #1 scale Kadees. Photos would be a great help. I had hoped on using the new radial coupler that mounts on the outside of the end sill…can’t remember the number…1749 or something. I was playing around with lowering the stock end sill by adding some strip wood, but it doesn’t look right. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks.

Call Sam at Kadee, and he can help…

Fred,

I spoke to Sam. Quite a gentleman to take the time out of his busy day to speak to me. He gave me some great ideas that I will be using. I will try to post some photos when done. Thanks for the great advice!

I used a #1779 (which I believe is what you’re thinking of…)

I did cut the little lip off the bottom to make the pocket a bit thinner, but that’s all I did. The cow-catcher is from a B’mann 4-6-0. Later, K

Kevin,

Great pics. Yes, 1779 is the coupler I’m using. Do you have more photos of your Heisler? Thanks for the help…it’s just what I needed!!

Here’s a link to a description of what I did to the model…

That’s a great video. Wow!

Kevin,

I agree with Ric, WOW!!! Great work. Could you please explain a little more about the vinegar mix. I would like to try it. It looks extremely realistic as it is real rust! It also seems to be very easy to do. Thanks again.

Great job on the video and the railroad. I loved the shot of the couplers from above. Somehow seemed so “Hitchcock”.

Kevin,

Thanks for all of your help and inspiration. I have completed the installation of the couplers, and they are exactly what I was looking for. I have also tried the vinegar on a test car. Thanks again!!!
