Sir - you’ll need to carry out a thorough check and lube job on this loco ere you put it on the tracks. The recommended lube sets are either LaBelle or Hobb-e-lube [sp]. They contain the three or fourdifferent grades of oil and grease that you will need to do the job correctly. I’m assuming that you have the video/DVD showing how to do it?
My two-truck Shay is now coming up to thirteen years old, and still runs like a sewing machine [sounds like one as well]. That’s only because it gets cared for. As the Bachmann blurb reminds you, this is prolly THE most complex model locomotive ever made, period. There are lots of lube points, and to ensure a long and reliable life they all need attention.
