Hey Y’all;

Have had some repainting Bachmann cars success - so far . . .

Am changing Virginia & Truckee cars in 1890 - 1910 yellow with green trim to 1870-something wine/maroon/dark cherry.

Took a gamble and tried some Burgandy color Krylon FUSION for plastic yard furniture and stuff right over factory yellow, no primer, nothing.
It worked ;D

Even worked over hunter green Krylon Fusion where had previously painted yellow underframe to better match later yellow and green scheme.

Paint did do a couple tiny bits of odd texture over gold lettering, but that’s okay, will be overlaid with decals.

–> Next question, will Fusion work over that gloss black paint on a Durango & Silverton boiler?

And do they have the color I want anyway?
Hmm . . . be back in a moment.

I’ve always been told to stay away from Krylon Fusion for the plastics used in our toys. Anybody know the straight gouge?

I use Fusion as a primer. On the recent “Annie” repaint, which I had mucho problems…I did not use Fusion as I had run out.
I started using Fusion because I was having problems painting Bachmann rolling stock. Much like the problem Marconi had with Aristo. The paint would “draw up” in certain areas, leaving tiny circles with no paint.
When I use Fusion, I haven’t had any problems. I generally paint over the Fusion and don’t use it as a top coat.

The Nickle Shimmer might work for "Russian Iron". I'm surprised they don't have black. Ralph

I have used Krylon Ultra Flat Black with success. I used Fusion on a Colorado Scale Building with excelant results. How ever I did clean it quite well so as to not have problems. One thing I have done in the past is warm the can in a water bath and a hot plate. Be very careful to not over do it!!! I have found that atomizes the paint better! Am painting right now on plastic for the fuel tanks in Valley. Need to build the support structure now.
