Large Scale Central

Have a look at

…the low-speed control of the AccuCraft ‘Earl’ loco hauling my two converted Neqida passenger coaches this afternoon, over on main131’s tracks.

Of course, my grateful thanks, as ever, go to main131 for letting us play on his layout, and what a great day it was, too!

The bright green colour is correct, I assure you all - carefully matched to the two preserved coaches over at the Opuzstaszer Memorial Park in Eastern Hungary.

Those of you that get the British Garden Rail magazine might see the whole article on the conversion if the wind is in the right direction…

Terry; I got a message that it is a ‘malformed vedio’. What happened? Paul

Dunno, looked OK to me, and Larry in PDX has seen it…

Try this one as well ------ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jojwy8rDFHA

Let me know if it’s OK, will’ya??

Best

tac,
The first link didn’t work for me either. But I found the video. I think this link will work.

Looks good on the ‘other’ forum, might it be the way this site handles the URL?

Thanks for looking and fixing, BTW.

Absolutely wonderful to see a sparkie going at a prototypical speed.
Most vids they go by so fast, I can’t even see 'em.
Good for you, Tac!

You run backwards pretty good for an old phart…

Tac; leave it to those who like to play with fire. I hope sometime before the summer is over (if we have one) to fire up my Ruby and run it.

Paul

Uh, guys, it IS a live-steamer, NOT a sparkie…the sparkie version has not yet been put on sale, although it is expected sometime soon.

That’s why I put it on the live-steam thread…

's OK Terry. JB is just a bit slow on the up-take

Not sure about that bright green …
But the proper green loco is a sight for sore eyes
Very nice, tac

Yeah, don't make phun of us old pharts. You'll be one of us soon enough! :) :) Seems to me a live steamer sometimes sparks thru the stack and thru the fire box, setting off fires. Hence: Sparkie.

Chris - I assure you that the bright green is totally correct for these era coaches - the colour was matched to the two MAV 760mm NG cars in the Opusztaszer Memorial Park in Eastern Hungary. I can send you a pic if you ahve difficulty in accepting my version. Remember that in the eastern bloc quite often trains were VERY garishly coloured by western standards - possibly in defiance of the usual drabness. Ask Spule [Garrett]. When the two cars that are actually on the Welshpool arrived from the Čiernohronská Železnica NG railway they too were this colour and not the miserable blau-grun they are now.

I asked my Hungarian next-door-but-one neighbour to give them a call to check out the colour if possible. He reported back to me that it was called Fény zöld Ford - Ford light green. Here in yUK it is called Modena green and seemed to look correct. The green loco is the correct shade of GWR Brunswick green. THIS is a main-line steam loco from the same timescale…subtle it ain’t. http://www.steamlocomotive.info/vlocomotive.cfm?Display=22082 tac

Ah, 'sparkie' is usually the euphemism applied to electrically-driven locos...hence the confunglement.

tac, I had not the slightest doubt of your veracity ... I was merely expressing a personal preference for the GW shade :)

Oh, the sparks from the poles and catenary.
I see.
Dismals even spark thru the stack, sometimes big time!
That makes 'em all “sparkies”
