Does anyone know if there is any lubrication necessary on the Hartland Mac before running? I just purchased one and there is NO instructions in the box.

Here is the link that will give you the paperwork that would have been with the locomotive. Should not require anything per the instructions, though normal maintenance would apply.

Keep the wheels clean. They don’t stop working.

everyone I’ve gotten New has been dry in the gear box, add some gear paste/oil and they’ll run forever
