Thanksgiving is here and the crew was busy moving cranberry sauce by the boxcar, flat car and the schnabel even lugged a case of the good stuff.
Happy times on the ol RR.
Another fun video, Todd! I love the Schnabel hauling a hefty load. Happy Thanksgiving!
Great video, Happy Thanksgiving
Todd;
Loved the video. Wonder what things would have been like if Eadaville in its heyday had a two-foot gauge Schnabel for bringing in their cranberries from the bogs!
Best, David Meashey
That would have been amazing if Edaville had a Schnabel Dave.
HAHA!
Quite the action on the the railroad today!
The Blue Crew needs to trim the fun little juniper trees trying to snag cranberry off of the schnabel. This is unacceptable as junipers are not allowed cranberry off of trains as it is restricted by laws of the state.
Also, I am sure GHA was used to load the cans on the cars. Need a giant magnet crane loading device on that industry. Lacking that, maybe a underpaid rooster with time on his hands.
Another cool and pleasing video with snappy music!

Yes the GHA was used multiple times in the making of this video.
Yes trimming needs to be done in several spots on the RR to allow the Schnabel to pass. At the other end of the RR where it goes under the house, 2 portals have to be removed. Not seen in the video was where a branch on the hydrangea bush snagged the whole train and stopped it dead.
Fun times on the ol RR.
Good spotting, Bruce. You and Todd have raised more questions than answers though.
I’d definitely tune in to a documentary titled Exposed! The GHA on the CCC — A hard-hitting look at the covert hand-powered infrastructure that keeps Cape Cod’s smallest rail empire from collapsing with a definitive behind-the-scenes exposé of the elusive Guiding Hand Authority.
As CEO of the CCC and owner of the Giant Hand, I’m sure that many of our readers would be interested learning more about the Hand from its current owner Todd Haskins.
Todd, for the record…
- How long have you been the legal owner and caretaker of the Giant Hand™?
- Did you adopt it, was it a rescue hand, or was it obtained through a hand shake?
- How many hours a week does it put in on the Cape Cod Central?
- Has it ever tried to wander off and start its own garden railway somewhere else?
- Has it ever shown signs of mischief, like rearranging rolling stock for fun?
- Does it get jealous of automation technologies like DCC? Or is it confident in its irreplaceable… grasp of CRANBERRY related operations?
- Does it ever get jealous when you watch The Addams Family, worrying you might replace it with a more established celebrity hand?
- Finally, Todd, on behalf of future historians: what advice would you give to others considering a using a Giant hand for their own railway operations?
Applause, Applause!! Bravo!
The official “Band of the Giant Hand” has begun!!
No more hiding in shame (Cue the acceptance speech).
I cannot wait for the forthcoming video, “Exposed! The GHA on the CCC”
I am tearing up here! The Cape Cod Central rules the air and video waves. May the Blue Crew celebrate.

Too funny Bill and Bruce.
The GHA is an omnipotent and omnipresent force that has saved many trains from derailments and damage and it will continue to carry on behind the scenes as a gentle and caring hand that helps to guide trains safely to their destinations.
The Giant Hand would applaud your appreciation of it but what is the sound of one hand clapping? Maybe it will salute instead?
For that matter is it a relative of Thing.
Is it a right hand or left hand
Is it’s last name Some
Does it have a carriage for a relative
Now that the secret is out the GHA made a rare or not so rare appearance today and the news crew was on hand to grab it.
You two amuse me! Hit play…
