Spent a glorious day ignoring the organized festivities and building new roadbed out in the backyard

July 1st activities at Parliament Hill were spectacular as William and Kate were visiting. The crowd couldn’t stop cheering for them. Nice to see such happiness and warmth especially with the world’s troubles of today. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police dressed in their red serge uniforms while riding their horses to pull the Official Royal open carriage, which passed by the American Embassy, and followed by the Governor General Foot Guards dressed in scarlet unform and bearskin headress. The weather was absolutely perfect. Clear blue sky and very warm with low humidity. It is fun to see folks get so excited to view or meet the Royals.
Personally, record crowds aren’t my thing so I walked around downtown at the perimeter of the crowds and later watched the fireworks from the Supreme Court of Canada. If any Americans come up to Ottawa for a visit you will be amazed at the well behaved crowds, folks not littering and the amazing access we have to our public officials and official buildings.
Best Canada Day at Ottawa in years.

Avoided the crowds, all morning. Stayed home and did last minute preparations for the Saturday CELEBRATIONS, for the completion, at GlenHammond and Nelson. It was astonishing how quiet the local area was, with all the crowds out , and down town. It was so peacefull, that I hope we can entice everyone to go dontown every weekend…!!
The afternoon of Canada Day I went out to a great party in the East end of town…quiet, peaceful, with great friends.
