Hancock 4700 Air Whistle in Fn3?

I’d like to change the whistle sound on my GE 45 Ton diesels to a Hancock 4700 Air Whistle. The sound part is easy, but the stock single bell air horn wouldn’t look right with the Hancock sound.

If I had some bits that would work, I’m not opposed to scratching one up myself, but if there is a 3D print file out there I’d prefer to go that route since I’m lazy! I did try and find prints with Google with little luck.

If you are not familiar with the 4700, this Youtube video will be my source to create a set of RailPro sound files from…

Any suggestions of what bits I might use to fabricate the bell from, or a source of a 3D print file would be appreciated.

Looks like you could start with the cap from a plastic tube like:
31mJURbaZZL.AC
angle cut the cap and add your tube center

Now if you could just put the speaker in the round rod facing the rectangular bell you,d have a great piece. :sunglasses:

This will be a simple 3d drawing, just need measurements and i can do. see my PM

Just so happens there was a guy at the RHS that had printed that. Unfortunately, I don’t remember who but I remember commenting on the phallic resemblance. Someone else was there at the time. @John_Wilda was it you? Do you remember who this was?

Here is the back in good detail…

Still working on dimensions.

Yeah, wasn’t that the guy who said he knew you? I still can’t remember his name. That was our conversation on Saturday. Nice guy.

I think I found it! Pretty sure this was the guy I spoke to at the RHS who showed us a printed sample of his design.

You don’t want that Jon. You want Fn3 Nathan K-5LA’s!

Yesterday i drove down to the museum and measured the real deal. I have now modeled this up in full scale so i can print in any reasonable scale.

Running a test print shortly in 1:20.32

Hancock made a 3 bell steam whistle and other types for the steam era trains. Kept themselves busy making those air whistles when steam fell away to diesel. I found out in the 18th century steam whistles were first used as a low water warning in the factories running steam. They found many uses after that!

Curious if you could rescale this drawing to 1.6 scale? I’m going to have it cast in bronze for a gp7 I’m working on. Thanks. This drawing is great.
