Large Scale Central

Hale & Norcross

Are your doors wide enough to get it outside?(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Looks great!

John

Thanks John! And yeah, barely. I did a test run a few weeks ago, and the big module fit – if turned in a particular way. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Seems like the flash was washing the color out, so here’s a shot with the flash turned off. The trim / windows / doors are all painted with Krylon “almond” over a prime coat of Krylon Fusion white.

Oh, that looks right out of Ferrell’s book. On the flash, try covering it with a sheet or two of white paper depending on paper thickness. I’d say 2 for the old typing paper, 1 for average printer paper. Occasionally even register receipts have worked for me. Once used a Kleenex in a pinch.

Gee Cliff, that is really coming along.

Nice job.

great work Cliff. really looking good (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Looking Very Nice Cliff, That model is a real intriguing structure, when this is finished it will be a great focal point on your railroad.

Dennis

Focal point, or dominating edifice, one or ta udder. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Just kidding. I would love to have something of that mass and presence on my railroad.

Hey Rooster, Forrest, David, Hollywood, Dennis, thanks all for your very kind remarks!

Forrest, I’m just using my cell phone camera, and am photographically brain dead, but thanks very much for the ideas.

David and Dennis, I sure appreciate your assessment. And maybe I’ll never get to the other mines, and this will be enough. But if I do, this is the mid-size one; the two monster ones await (Con Virginia and the Ophir), maybe twice this size. I’m not going to worry about those for now though. Thanks again!

And on that statement I’ll just go jeese I thought the trains were what would cost the most. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Don’t bail on me now Hollywood, I’ll need your great smile and steady demeanor when I’m blowing bubbles over this:

Never happen though, this one is taking all season! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Sounds like you need to spend some time at the Jerry B photography school.

H&N is looking great BTW!

Chris

I for one ,can’t wait to see this beauty in it’s location out on the layout!

Hey Chris, thanks! And that would be a great way to spend time, and Jer’s certainly a pro in my book.

Very kind of you Sean, I’m pleased you like it! It’ll be a while though, but fortunately not the 2 years I’d initially projected. Maybe 4 more months? We’ll see. But thanks!

i was very sceptical, when i saw the first pics of your ice-blue assembly.

but your painted walls with their windows in, indicate something very nice coming of it.

I think we have to wait until it’s outside to see what the color really is. Hope it fits through the door!(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Sure looks nice!

Hi Bruce, you’re definitely right. For example, I was very skeptical about the “burgundy” color of the siding, when in the material selection stage. I brought the candidates to Linda (my wife), who said: “Let’s take it outside.” So we did. And dang, the “burgundy” was the best match to the “barn red” color we are shooting for.

So the “white” (almond) will also have its own color-behavior outdoors. We picked a darker “white” because of that.

It took quite a while for my little 'puter to chew through, but I thought an up-to-date rendering was in order.

Tomorrow I’ll be working on details of the main structure, just not sure which pile to start on. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
