Until you report in mission accomplished I have to ask: Dig you bag some tailings?(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
Hi friends! I finally have a chance to report in.
Last Thursday night was the lecture for the Comstock Foundation for History and Culture, in an ongoing lecture series held each month at the Gold Hill Hotel in Gold Hill, NV. A few more chairs were brought out, but only about 18 people came. Which was totally fine with me! Here’s the setting (the hotel is 150 years old, the oldest in NV).
I learned that laser pointers don’t work with flat screen TV’s… But they seemed to enjoy the talk. All Comstock history buffs, including the gentleman who currently owns the H&N property (more specifically, the claims related to the H&N, and many others on the Comstock).
Friday I drove over Carson Pass to CA, and have been with family since. I’ll go back to NV on Thursday for the V&T conference, and deliver a reduced version of the presentation (40mins vs. 75 in GH) next Saturday morning.
If you’d like a pdf of the (longer) presentation, PM me and I’ll send you the link.
John, I haven’t gotten a bag of tailings yet, we’ll see…
BTW, here’s a couple of pics from the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum in Arnold CA. Small museum and outdoor collection, but well presented. The indoor exhibits are nicely done.

Hey Cliff,
Loved the following journey of this build, was the plexiglass and foam construction a choice made for construction weight, time constraints, mobility or something else?
…and do you continue to cover the trestle when not in use?
Thanks very much Bill.
I used the plex because I could cut in on the laser, and it would hold up to the weather. And yeah, I’ve left the cover on.
