True enough!

Now on those gears, it is possible that the chap confuses gearing with valve gear.
Metal gearing, as in the drive train of a Bachmann engine, would be quite remarkable! Intuitively I would ask: WHAT GIVES???

Hans;

Anyone who proclaims to be knowledgeable enough to give advice, should advise clearly, and avoid mistakes, such as; between valve, and rod motion, and gear train.
Stating clearly that “The latest Annie drive has metal gears”, does not anamour me to the person who made the statement, as he/she/it, obviously has never even opened up a gearbox; and should not be advising on subjects not known. Or, should learn better how to express them selves.

Just a new year gag Tim…

Never expected 22 posts!

I guess it was good timing, what with the Soap Suds Site getting a makeover last night.

I told you I’d be around, just not as active.
Still trying to walk today.
About 8 hours of “marathon ops” yesterday.

Better make it 23+, Dave. You’re one of the good guys, don’t let the bad guys screw you around.

What was good?

I suspect the Yukon Jack and cigars. The ops session was probably good as well.

I wonder if anyone brought along a K to run. Like its namesake, the mudhen, I feel that if taken along it could have also finished up in the Spokane mud.

Spokane mud??? Dave’s layout is nowhere around here…:frowning: Wish it were.

Sheesh Warren,

Have you ever watched a flock of Mudhens take off? No telling which mud they’ll end up in.

How do I know? Plenty of those on our local rowing lake, just for kicks we’ll chase them up with the coach boat to watch how closely they can skim the water. Never understood the moniker of the CO railed variety 'til I saw these guys in action. Yep, then it made perfect sense!

…Up to 32 posts, Dave…I’m sure there will be more to come. You might note that an interesting comment was mentioned on the chat this evening…not “New”, news but finally made public…from Roger Cutter…

Yes Fred, very interesting! Precisely the reason I buy “one off the shelf” when I do reviews.

I’m not a bird watcher. I wouldn’t know a feathered mudhen from a sparrow.

“I’m not a bird watcher. I wouldn’t know a feathered mudhen from a sparrow” Well here is an English Mudhen, they are a lil different.

You can read the Chat History should you care to.

Here is a tidbit from Roger Cutter our of the MLS archive:

Just to clarify things for everyone. I did not request the engine first for this kind of work. It was given to me by Bachmann because I trouble shoot all their pilot models (last 6 or 7 years) and make sure they run as best I can get them to for the video and I provide my RR for the video. The shipping of the unit from Philly accidentally got it to me first. Just the way it worked out. Neither Stan or I get paid for this follow up work.

Makes you wonder why TOC keeps finding all these problems and fixes for them doesn’t it?

If I was running Bachmann and someone was finding all this stuff AFTER I’d had a pilot model reviewed and gone over by not one but TWO “experts” I’d be really, REALLY PO’d!!!

Dave,
Do what you need to do to maintain your blood presure levels. However, please don’t be too much of a stranger.
