Gritty Creek Bridge Part 3

Did some finger burning last night. Fortunately I never had to reach for the fire extinguisher! Here’s the bents:

The one on the left is one of the balsa patterns I built in place for each bent. The legs were made to be adjustable to allow for any ground movement due to frost heave and to allow a better fitting of the bents. A 3-56 nut was soldered in place and a homemade bolt was fabricated to hold the leg at the desired height.

Here’s the finished bent with the bracing in place:

I still haven’t figured how to do the footing for the legs (Bob hasn’t given me an footing idea to steal!). My intial thought is to cast footings in place out of silicon since they’ll have to hold up in such a wet location. More later as the work progresses… John
