Large Scale Central

Greetings from Germany

Hello and welcome to all american modeling friends.

My name is Kit Baltzer, I am 36 years old and live in germany, near aachen.

I am more by chance on your great homepage, as I was
looking for an article number of a model. At the beginning of the year, my father died, a passionate American fan
and model railroad collector (LGB, Aristocraft, Kalamzoo, etc.).
He was very frequent in the US, was at conventions (for example, 1996 in San Diego) ...
I was with him at that time. It was a meeting of LGB. As I said, he died early in the year. Since my mother does not want to
occupy the house alone, we are about to clear it out,
and I have come across many old treasures! With the consent of my mother,
I started to sell some locomotives, wagons, etc. at the "bay".
Unfortunately, manufacturers like Kalamazoo, Aristocraft etc in Germany are not
really known or are not interested. As I said, I was looking for an article number, and I came across an entry in your forum.
And then I got the idea,
I sign up here with you in the forum simply times, in the hope that you can help me or
perhaps have interest in one or the other article have. I am in the house of my father on so some nice models, as for example.
2 NEW Railtrucks, model T "Delton locomotive works inspection truck"
+ 2 NEW Railtrucks green "D & RG"! Many Kalamazoo tankers, Aristocraft cars etc ... should anyone have interest in one or the other,
so he can gladly report to me. Greetings from Germany K. Baltzer

Welcome to the LSC forum Kit, I remember meeting your father at several LGB of America Club Conventions. Dr Baltzer was always very cordial and a very interested in American railroading.
Your dad’s collection should be of interest to members of this forum.

Welcome, Kit.

Welcome !

Will you be posting a list with prices?

Hello....
Thanks for the nice welcome greetings.
But I was very amazed and surprised at the news of Jim Agnew !!!
I did not think one of them knew my father !!!!
But I'm glad about that they knew my dad Jim !!!! The message is definitely a good start in the day =) That tells me that it was definitely a good decision to register me here in the forum! The collection of my father is very large ... started everything with Märklin H0
in the 1960 years .... then ca 1980 he began to collect LGB ....
Since he was very interested in American history and also
railroad was He regularly in the USA .... Florida, California, Nevada,
Utah, Arizona, Nevada ... mostly west of the USA ... He had a taste for American railroad, so most of the locomotives and
wagons are in American style .... I've grown up with Rio Grande,
Pennsylvania Railroad, Union Pacific, etc.) At some point he started buying things from other manufacturers, like Bachmann,
Aristocraft, Kalamazoo ..... but as already written, many in Germany the
manufacturers do not know, or only a little .... Kalamazoo hardly anyone ...
Aristocraft rather. The most cars and locomotives are new ... and it was hardly played with it ...
Unfortunately, I get them in germany but not sold because they do not know or
would like to have one. The wierderum find it very unfortunate,
as many beautiful pieces are thereby! But how does it look like in America? Are manufacturers such as Kalamazoo,
Aristocraft, Bachmann etc known and are they collected? I can gladly times a list with wagons and locomotives .....
course also a few pictures. Maybe someone is interested in something.
It would be me and I think times also my father rejoice, if the things
would come in good hands with someone who also appreciates the things! To the prices ... I would like to be quite open and honest .....
I do not know how the things are traded in america ... therefore I would
like it so that they handle me a fair offer then if they do
Want to have something ... fair for her ... and fair for me ...
the money and the sale of the things is also not for me, but
exclusively for my mother .. I also know that still packaging and postage comes to it ....
to USA costs it finally up to 5 Kg 37 € and 10 Kg .. 53 €! But I would be glad if someone interested in the one or other piece ...
should someone synonymous what LGB search ... can he also gladly report ....
Greeting Kit

Delton, kalamazoo, Aristocraft are no longer in business, however the rolling stock does sell here in the USA.

You will see these on the American and Canadian E-bay quite often.

My concern with you selling these trains is the shipping cost, plus these older manufacturers usually do not sell for the same $$ as the LGB products.

Kit, you may have more success if you sell the entire collection to someone in the USA who deals with the European market.
I would suggest Hans Kohl at http://goldcoaststation.net/

Hello Kit,

I wonder if you have considered a post on the UK Forum, GScaleCentral?

There is a very large LGB following in the UK.

Welcome Kit,

There is good news. The Euro exchange rate is very favorable to us in the USA - I recently bought a set of 4 LGB cars from eBay Germany, and although the shipping was expensive, the overall transaction was very favorable. I think we paid $150 for 4 small freight cars, of which $50 was shipping!

It will be helpful if you can tell us average shipping prices from Germany. Is Deutsche Post the usual package/parcel carrier?

If you look on eBay.com, you can find recent sales of many items, even Kalamazoo. The best thing to do is to list all the items you have, and nd put the list in the Sale/Wanted forum. You can ask for help with prices, and the guys here will make sure you get honest estimates.
