Large Scale Central

Greeting LSC!

Hi there everyone! I’m WiggyJiggyJed. I’m new to the forums and relatively new to the hobby I would say. I’ve always been an avid railfan since I was little and always wanted to get into G scale but due to my parents budget, I had to settle with HO. I’m also an AFOL or Adult Fan Of LEGO and have used LEGO as a medium to create realistic looking trains.

Four years ago I bought some large scale trains and track but have never been able to finish a garden railroad. After a lot of frequent moves to different towns and eventually to Florida and back I’ve finally found a spot to start construction and hopefully finish a railroad this time in my grandmothers existing garden. The track plan has been planned out and I’m just about ready to start laying and ballasting track.

My railroad is based on a long abandoned three mile narrow gauge railroad in Rockport, Maine that used to carry limestone from the quarry to the waterfront kilns. I’ve developed a great interest in the history of this railroad and decided to model a similar railroad to carry limestone for the fictional Ellsworth Hancock Limestone Co. which is also going to be 3’ gauge.

I hope to contribute as much as I can to the site and to the discussions here on the forums between my busy job and daily life. I also look forward to making some new friends in the large scale community.

Welcome aboard Caleb.

Thanks everyone! I’m definitely going to take and post some pics. Things are kinda slow at the moment until I can get more funds to work on it but right now I at least have just a loop of track in the garden to make it look nice for now. Dave Russell, not a whole lot of info is on the internet about the railroad but I do have some old pics and info on each pic on my flickr photostream

Welcome!

I like that little locomotive. Are you planning to make something similar? That would be a cool project.

The rolling stock looks interesting as well. LOTS of opportunities there.

Welcome Caleb, Cool old photos. You can drop the image tags from the photos. Just the straight link will do. Ralph

Yup I’m going to kitbash a Rogers 2-4-2 perhaps, and Bachmann already has some side dump cars that will work. There were two locomotives that ran on the line and here is the sister locomotive which I’m going to model.
