Large Scale Central

Greenburgs A drag and brag

Went to greenburgs show today to pick up supplies. Not a show for large scale. I know a lot of you have these but I think I scored big on this

Got them for a song and dance even Cale couldn’t top. I don’t think I could do any better if I waited on the ECLSTS

I used to have one of those but in B.N. Long gone now though to another country even!! Regal

Guy in our club bought that set new in Box at a yard sale $25 a piece counting the tender. That’s right $150 fer the whole set. Bought track dirt cheap too…

dang OI have been looking for that set.

Dave,
That was a heck of a deal as far as I’m concerned and I’m glad you decided to make the purchase even though you went back for it. Considering what was there in your era and what your modeling I personally would have had a tough decisions myself on which purchase to make. I know some guys could afford to have scooped it all up but I feel you made the right choice. Wish I would have found items I was after…Nobody makes what I want so I guess I will just have to make it myself!
Nice buy!

Ask him what he paid for the set and you will be rolling on the floor vomiting…
I talked him into it!!

Very nice find. You’ll probably need to upgrade the drive in the Pacific to get it to pull 4 6 axle heavyweights.

Make an offer Geoff

Thank you Cale

Brag on Rooster

Heard I also need to take out the center wheelset so they’ll make my 10’ diameter curves too. This is all earlier production so I’ll go through the mods before I run them
Brian Are you saying I can’t rework what I have to pull my over 3% grades?

I have heard the original Pacific drives were pretty anemic. Only trying it out will tell!

-Brian

I got rid of my pacific right away everytime I took it out of the box something else either fell off or broke off!! Then sold the pass set separately!! Regal Here’s the picture you know who borrowed for his calender after booting me from you know where!! Hah what a guy!!

Thanks for the alert Brian I knew I’d take them apart and relube before use while tightening up every thing and Georges’ and Gregs’ site are always useful.I’ll have to run them for awhile before I buy new drive system though.

Yea Jerry I noticed this one is missing a couple obvious parts where hands would go. But like everybody else who’s in this hobby I never run with out a full check on my purchase first. It is a shame quality control isn’t better all around concidering the prices. But, new or used I take it apart first or tighten it up before I use.

I haven’t tried it, but I’ve heard it doesn’t take a lot of bashing to get the new drive under a Pacific.

Nice find!

That looks rather nice , but what exactly is it ? Maker , scale , and so on ?

Old drive is a POC.
Narrow gauge back to back centre drivers ensures loco bounces through most turnouts.

New drive is just fine. Pity about the screwed up tender wiring.

I might be wrong but the loco and tender look like Lionel with the coupler on the tender replaced out to a Aristo coupler.
The cars of course are Aristo and will negotiate 8’ diameter curves as I run the same cars on my side yard railroad

Is the loco plastic ?

Very plastic.

Mike yes all 1/29th AristoCraft Pacific and 4 cars. Plastic throughout except what needs to be metal for pickup pretty much.

Tony, Wiring in tender in general or for battery use? Haven’t had time to re read all the info available on this.

No Rudolf all AristoCraft

If I’ve got my mind in order I think these engines were also done in a green scheme. I’ll have to do the research
