Great Trains F7 Shell/Parts wanted

I’m getting a Great Trains F7 shell, need one more to stretch it out to E8 size. Would like any trucks/parts/etc. I do have metal grills for it and a few Great Trains parts I’ve accumulated.

Hope someone can help me out, had good luck on this forum finding parts.

85 people have viewed this, still hoping someone can help me out. Now that Christmas is over with, maybe you have time?

Do you have a picture? I don’t know my engines like I should. I have some shells from Aristo I got from a friend. They are F units. A units. You might be able to use one.

Jon an Aristo Alco Fa1 unit wouldn’t be the same as a Great Trains EMD F7 unit.

I hadn’t heard of Great Trains before I joined this site, so I cannot help you with your quest. Sorry.

Great Trains 1:32; Aristo 1:29 as well as USAT.

I have a number of passenger cars, including a Sleeper and RPO with (2) FP40 units. Jerry - this is project to be watched by me with interest!

Bob,

I am getting some motor blocks from NWSL. They will fit the Great Trains side frames I tracked down. Like to get another shell of an A or B unit.

I got the motor blocks, still looking for a Great Trains F7 A or B shell.

Here is the Great Trains F7 I’m working on. Like to find a B unit, or another A. Will be in UP colors. Gray roof is a color I had mixed to match MTH’s idea of UP gray. Doing the same for the side. Air brushed on.

Hey Jerry

If you can’t find the Great Trains unit. What about an MTH F7 or a MTH PA (B unit) shell?

I got this nice Great Trains F7, but it’s so good I’m not sure I want to bash it into a UP one! It’s set up for battery or track power, has an old OTT sound system, which I’ve never heard of. Will try it out today on some blocks, since it’s like -5 degrees outside.

Hey Jerry, is it possible this is an F3, not an F7? I’m looking at the grills, and as I have learned in my own quest to build the NS Office Car Special, the grill-work on the side of this engine appears to be F3-style, just like the USA F units.

I just did a quick search, and I found that the last phase of the F3 was built with the F7 style side intakes.

I’ll be honest, I can tell F’s from E’s from GP’s from SD’s from Dash-8’s from Dash-9’s from Centercabs… I think thats the limits of my diesel spotting abilities. Give me external combustion anyday!
