Large Scale Central

Great Trains F7 restoration.

I got this F7 Great Trains shell/frame and have been restoring it. Will be in UP colors with NWSL motor blocks. I have some Great Trains grills/side frames to use. Gray color on the roof is a color I had mixed to match MTH’s idea of UP gray and had a yellow mixed also. Using my old Paashe air brush. Still looking for another A or B unit.

That’s a really nice F7. I’ve heard of the Great Trains F7 but have never seen one. Pretty cool.

Are you going to add the green anti-glare panel that many UP locos had? I think it was called anti-skid green.

Wow, that’s pretty.

I mean, for a dismal (diesel)

Pretty cool Jerry!

I had no clue Ralph Brown made one

Thanks. He made F7 A&B units, did some E- 8’s also, I guess. Like to find another A or B F7. They are 1/32nd scale.

Some F7 side frames I got. He told me they were made by Dana Barlow, down in Florida, back in the 80’s.

Whoa, those sideframes look good to me at first glance. I wonder how they compare to the MTH ones? Looks like the builder spent some time on them. Are they plastic?

Yeah, plastic, come in several pieces. I do have the basic main frame in quantity, but no brake shoes or brake cylinders.

Sweet, Jerry! Going to look great in yellow and grey!

I never even knew great trains made an f7?

I got this nice Great Trains in a custom Monon scheme. Sorta reluctant to repaint it in UP colors though. Has battery/track power. NWSL power blocks and an OTT sound system. Will try it out today, -5 outside. So inside on blocks.

Nicely detail locomotive Jerry. To bad they’re not made anymore.

Jerry

Approx. How long is it?

Say center of coupler to center of coupler

That’s the only Great Trains engine I have seen that I actually like, what scale is that?

Body is about 18.25" long. 3 13/16" wide. 3 7/8" tall. Great Trains are 1/32nd scale. This Monon is a custom paint scheme that he had done.

Thank you Jerry…Trying to get a visual on actual size.

Once again never knew RB made that shell.

Very cool
