Some wonderful film footage of logging in the Sierra Mts.
Very cool video!

I especially enjoyed that video as last Sept after the NG convention I wandered around the Sierra RR, Jamestown, and into Tuoluome. There is little left in T town of the West Side Lumber Co. Their HQ building is still there, degraded and surrounded by a fence. There is a steam donkey on the lawn of the fire department and Heisler #2 is sitting cosmetically preserved in a small park. A few more donkeys in a local field that appear to be an event center.
Rather odd, the west side of town has been semi cleared off, some streets and curbs laid, but no buildings, and fenced with rather unfriendly signs identifying the land behind the fence as part of the local tribe, no trespassing!! And a few hundred yards away, sticking up above the trees, is the sawdust burner from the mill! No other sign of buildings, at least from the legal side of the fence. Curious situation, so it appears the active mill, pond, yard, etc have vanished and are part of a reservation. I was unable to find anyone to ask about this situation. I will try to post some photos if anyone is intersted
