Great Lakes Large Scale Train Expo begins on May 9

The Great Lakes Large Scale Train Expo begins tomorrow, May 9 at the Metroplex Expo Center in Girard, OH strarting at 10am EDT through 4pm and again on Saturday May 10 from 10am EDT through 4pm. Many major vendors, such as MeLoveTrains, G-Scale Junction, Reindeer Pass, SplitJaws, 4TrackRR, Kadee Quality Products and Warren’s Trains and many other vendors with be attending the show. There will be challenges for the attendees such as a switching puzzle, and loading a hopper car with a remote control excavator. The Susquehanna Valley Garden Railway Society has set up a garden railroad display in the lobby of the expo center with a water falls and complete landscaping using living plants. It is fabulous! There are five other modular layouts for everyone to enjoy. A “White Elephant” table and a modeling contest where one can admire the modeling skills of others in the hobby. The models are quite impressive and inspiring.

For the children, there will be a Making Trains Fun flat car clinic on Friday afternoon (3pm) and two on Saturday morning (10:30 and at noon) and one building diorama clinic on Saturday afternoon (1:30 pm). There will be live steam locomotives running both days. 7.5 scale trains will also be operating both days. It’s great that the Making Trains Fun operation is there; I guess it’s semi-independent of the show / venue?

Someone should totally post pictures/videos of this show. It sounds like a blast! I believe @manimal is there for it. Maybe he will document it for us.
