I was at my local Menards today and found some great deals on some figures and scenery. Menards is a midwestern home improvement chain, like Lowes or Home Depot. They were having a sale until 11/13 on a lot of their christmas village stuff. I found figures for around $1 - $3 (multiple figures). I did the Credit Card trick to determine scale and the stuff made by Lemax is perfect for 1:20 scale. Most of the figures were about as high as a credit card. Keep in mind that this is christmas themed stuff so most of the figures have heavy coats on and stuff, but they looked to be easily modified if a person wanted. I also got a few christmas trees, complete with lights so I can add some christmas cheer to my layout. I also picked up these rolls of brick and stone print that were intended to represent a street. But, I think this material will be great for detailing buildings. It is a rubber material with pretty close scale brick and stone pattern. Here is a picture of the brick and stone mats.
