It’s been tough locating a source of butane here. There are no Asian grocery stores. Target used to sell the canisters and a butane stove, but discontinued both. WalMart and Sports Authority are a no-go. The local cigar store sells 6 Oz. of triple refined for $20 - Good for about 4 sessions.

I found a good deal on-line at King Butane ( http://www.kingbutane.com ) $27 for 12 8 Oz Asian style containers. HAZ-MAT shipping runs $16 so the whole deal is $43 for 12. That’s about $3.60 a can and about what I paid at Target when they had it. It just hurts to pay almost 40% for shipping.

The closest local place that might have it is Cabellas - 60 miles round trip. Probably more than $10 in gas and a couple of hours.

So I ordered some from King. Been out of butane for over a month and I’m having steam withdrawal symptoms :smiley:

Oh - BTW. King sells this stuff wholesale if you can get an order together for half a pallet (35 cases of 28). That shouldn’t be hard but you need a tax number to do it. Hey Ric - Does the marina want to carry butane ??? :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

I am going to check with the Cabela’s here in Nebraska, see if they have them on hand in the store, or can get them to the store for you to pick up , without the Haz Mat fee. Jerry

Someday I’ll get to Cabellas just to see it. Finding a weekend that isn’t already overbooked is the problem. Having too much fun to make any time for more :smiley:

We managed to get to Cabela’s last weekend. Neat place, but they didn’t have any butane or butane powered stoves in-stock. They do offer free shipping if you do store pick-up so that might work if you have one nearby.

My order from King arrived in good condition. Once I saw how well it was packaged and the weight, the shipping charge seemed much more reasonable. If I had a local source I might be able to find them under $2, but $3.60/can delivered is pretty good and 12 cans will probably last me a year or more.

Glad you got that worked out on your gas problem. :wink: I would think 12 cans should last you quite awhile. I’ve gotten mine from Royce when we are both at York. Bought a case and still have most of it.

Royce has been kind of difficult to deal with as of late. He’s going through some issues with his father’s health. You probably know that the train business is a hobby, he has a full time job besides. I’ve been trying to get him to make me one of those filler valves for about 6 months. He just can’t get any shop time to make up the parts. Because of those issues I didn’t even bother to ask him to bring anything to York.
