Large Scale Central

Good or bad??

The Hammacher Schlemmer catalog came in the mail the other day.
Low and behold there is a Large Scale Train in it!
Bachmann made it to the “Hammacher Schlemmer catalog”

So is this good , having large scale out there…Or are people thinking it’s a joke?
I usually look at the catalog with amusement!
I’m glad to see it in it my self Around $450 +/-

Any thoughts?

Is it the catalog that has the caption “The best…” as part of each description? If it is, then I guess I should have chosen Bachmann as my main source of rolling stock. LOL

That catalogue has been missing from our mailbox for some time, along with some others of the same ilk. I guess they give up after there is no response (orders) over a certain time period.
The most often heard comment in our house when browsing those catalogues: “Who buys all this overpriced guano?”

They do give you a lifetime warranty, so that’s part of the price you are paying for this Bachmann loco…

I’d buy this instead:

go big or go home ha ha!

Take that to Marty’s!

Greg

Shame they don’t make the Mighty Casey ride-on version anymore. I have given semi-serious thought to re-gauging mine to 4 3/4" and bringing it to Marty’s. But then I’d rather do a 1.5" scale narrow gauge loco; maybe the SP’s “Little Giant” or one of the 70-ton GEs that are at the Colorado RR museum.

I really need to see if there’s a track around here locally… The ride-on stuff is just getting more and more tempting. (Of course, what I should really do is just start volunteering at the museum. 1:1 trumps all!)

That catalog is eye candy, but the prices are very sour.

It used to be that most of the stuff in the catalog was exemplary… but now it sure seems that besides being full list price, a good percentage is overhyped in terms of quality.
