Large Scale Central

Good News

One more company has decided to join the LS model market. Details as soon as the publication embargo expires (Monday).

What the heck is a “publication embargo”?

A time line prior to which one is not allowed to publish who and/or what it is. Unless the mfg goofs up and publishes the item on its own website in an insecure manner.

Shades of EPL in the early 2000s. When info showed up on the Internet at an ungodly hour and one was on the ball and checked right-a-way (aka quick response/reaction).

Interesting, will it be a new mass market manufacturer like Piko or a new high priced limited production beautique brand?

There isn’t a whole lot of established MFRS that might have the gumption to branch out into LS. That limits the possible players.

Semi good news from China, Alibaba’s Ma says the Chinese slowdown should result in better Quality. I hope they learn the concept of ‘new and improved’.

John

…probably, like Piko, or USTrains…picked up some old dies of stuff that wasn’t much good and failed years ago…but, there may be hope that what “They” say they are peddling, will be of some use to the majority of Large Scalers…there is a ray of hope, from what the short “Picture” suggests…

These days, with Spring on the distant horizon, and taking its time getting here; three days may seem like a long time to wait, but, cheer up…it will get here for most of us.

Who knows…maybe GenerationNext will follow a week later with notice of the shipping of their “New” Ore cars, that hopefully will be almost as good as the LGB ones.

Great Expectations, may just prime the interest level for a great NEW YEAR for Large Scale…we can always hope…

Now at a 80 cent Cdn to 100 cent US dollar.

Ah the days of 110 cent Cdn to 100 cent US dollar. I had a US account of funds to buy trains. I closed the account as I was losing money while the Cnd dollar kept gaining on the US dollar.

You can’t win on the currency exchange game.

So at a 20% premium, I must be really tempted with what ever the new product is but I have low will power !

I see MD Trains has announced they are a new LGB dealer on facebook

The embargo has been lifted since someone spilled the beans on a German forum. OK, here goes

Yes I know, it’s only of interest for the RhB fanatics, but it is certainly good News since Gunnar Müller was the designer who was responsible for the 2m stuff at BRAWA. Actually VERY GOOD NEWS!

Meh…expensive beautique brand, neat for a few folks, totally irrelevant for me.

Mark, yea I just got that email from MD. I wonder if maybe I can get the Olomana from him instead.

Hans, that is the thing, many of us in the colonies have no real interest in European equipment. But, even if I don’t have an interest in what they are making (now), I am happy that another manufacturer has joined the fray.

Ditto that!

Whoopee. A $2000 electric railcar only seen on ONE very local European railroad.

V. happy for ya, H-J.

Sure it’s good to see another guy making RhB stuff, but what about all the European stuff that ISN’T RhB?

For the same amount of funds, I bought a scale model 16mm live-steam 0-6-0 locomotive and all three of the extremely complex passenger cars it is still hauling in mid-Wales.

Just sayin’.

tac,

I don’t model the Bernina line therefore the Pullman ABe rail car is of no personal interest to me, however I have great hope that Gunnar Müller (no relation) will design a slew of freight cars and old time passenger equipment based on the RhB.
Why would they pick the RhB? Because that’s where the money is.
Over here they would probably call it “BIG time narrow gauge”, which wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

You are right. I’d go for the old-time freight stuff, me. VERY picturesque - I have to admit that the modern image RhB leaves me stunned into near oblivion with apathy.

All it has to be is affordable in today’s market for the ordinary Joe, not the plutocrat cheque-book modeller that we so often see in Europe. We all know, or maybe not, of the many small-time model manufactures in Europe with their eye-watering prices, MIBA is full of them especially at NSM every year. What is needed is the quality of the Brawa models at affordable prices. The days of spending a thousand euros on a box-car are long behind THIS boy.
