Netflix arrived the other day and it was one of my wifes choices “Water for Elephants” and I said oh no not another chic flic.
We watched it last night and it was a real surprise. It takes place during prohibition and follows a circus troupe as they travel by train across America. There are some really nice train shots filmed along the Filmore and Western Railway and they used a Steam engine borrowed from the Virginia and Truckee RR. There are some beautiful night shots of the train heading down the rails and neat to see the circus wagons being unloaded etc…
Overall a very good movie and the train made it so much better.
Check it out if you haven’t seen it.

In a similar vein: Denver and Rio Grande 1956, is finally available on DVD
I’ll have to look for the Denver & Rio Grande. My VHS copy is getting worn out from a lot of use. With the DVD I can paue it on my computer and print out some screen shots for reference. Something I can’t do with my VHS copy.
Thanks for the heads up.

Quote:Todd, Yesterday, I tried to renew the copy of that movie I had borrowed from the library as we hadn't got around to watching it. But no - someone had put a hold on it. Someone who read your post maybe !! I still haven't seen it!
