My wife and I are planning to change from Austrian to wild west themes on our fairly new garden railway. I put the German/Austrian stuff up for trade in the classifieds and started researching what we want. For motive power, we like the Hartland Jupiter 4-4-0 with its open spoke pilot truck and nice paint scheme. While we would love a Eureka 4-4-0 from Bachmann, our curves are tight with no hope for anything wider. I can make them decent for the short Hartland loco, but not for the scale Bachmann. Probably a couple of passenger cars to detail with lights and people will complete the train. Buildings will be kept simple with a station and a couple of stores, probably a general store and maybe a blacksmith shop. I want to add a turnout and siding at the one end with a horse/cattle loading ramp. Cheers Mike and Michele T
You have mail , maybe we can do a trade .

Thats one of my more favorite paint shemes on the 4-4-0 Dennis, I sent ya an email. Our garden railway area is so shaded all day long, its hard to get anything to grow, most things so far have died from lack of sunlite. Two huge silver maples shade the whole front yard and the house from the midday thru late evening sun, great for keeping the AC bills low, but bad for growing plants so far. And I have been using all shade or part sun light plants. I designed in several cuts using rocks, I would love to get a more grown over look to the line so the track disappears amount the plants, no luck so far. I could go with an elevated line in custom plant boxes on our deck in the back yard, but that area gets full sun all day long. Mikie
I love the bottom pic, the gardening around that scene is what I want to try and achieve, but the shade is killing plans so far. Looks like a small dirt mount to the left of the cowcatcher with a dormant ground cover on it. Mike
Standby. Mikie
Did some swaping with Dennis, still have a few items left. That beautifull 4-4-0 will have a home here at my place soon. Mikie
