Give us our daily chuckle

Hi all,

We all know the tendencies of LS mfgs to adjust the dimensions to pleasing, practical and popular proportions. (yes, I’m minding at least the "p"s! )

http://www.commutercars.com/

Looks like at least one automobile producer had the same idea, the dot on the “i” is the red colour.

HJ,
I saw one of those when I went down town to the train store the other day. One guy sitting in front, driving and a passenger sitting behind him.
I could have squashed them like a bug with my Chevy truck. Way too tiny; and ugly to boot!
jb

Let’s see here - by their documents, this “car” costs $4,200 to operate over 100K miles, while the Chevy Suburban costs $23,000 (at $3.50/gallon!).

Tango sticker price - $108,000

Fully loaded Suburban sticker price - $52,000

Price difference, including operation costs over 100K miles - $37,200

OR

10 live steam Accucraft K-28s, which, oddly enough, would probably take up more space than the Tango.

But…

Watch for a model of it in the next LGB catalog. On the bright side, they might mess with the proportions enough to where it looks margainally pleasing.

Later,

K

That is possible, since they missed the boat on the “Smart(s)” or where convinced that it would have to be modelled “as is” since the “p” features couldn’t be improved upon.

I’m trying to figure out what any of this has to do with LGB???

Why single out one particular manufacturer?

Probably because we can.

That said, this new vehicle (orcovered rollerskate),is simply an updated Messerschmidt.

Remember those?

Hi JJ,

Did I mention a or that particular mfg by name??

“We all know the tendencies of LS mfgs to adjust the dimensions to pleasing, practical and popular proportions.”

I added the italics for clarity!  Since “mfgs” is plural it leaves everyone to decide where this may fit.

I think it got thrown where it fits best…

Andre’

Please help me on this one. Didn’t BMW have a car where the entire front opened as the door??? I remember it as the “Isetta 300” or 500. I think it also had a motorcycle motor and was banned in this country after only one year or so. Nick Jr

Yup,Isetta.

I thought it was badged by two outfits, but maybe that was the Metropolitan.
The “normal” one the door hinged open (entire front of car), and the steering column was linked with a hinged support to the door and it “fell” out with the door.
You grabbed the wheel and pulled to close it behind you.
Wasn’t there a double-seat version with a regular door on one side in the back?

Two closely spaced wheels in the rear (everybody thought it was one), and two wide spaced at the front.

I don’t recall them ever being “banned”.

good Lord, look at all the countries who made “versions”:

Hi Andre

Yeah, I think it is not a bad fit.

Dave, I really like the BMW Export model

If I could get a model of that to make a modern RhB Speeder, I surely would!   Should fit very well on 1:22.5 MeterGauge track

I think 2 can sit in the front seat, no rear seat.

Regards, Greg

Found it.
I knew I’d seen them.

NEAT!

Interesting little car, sounds like its a very long way from production though, and even farther away from being affordable. Unforfunatly NONE of these one-off “investor-temper” type cars will be viable until they get the dam prices down where real people will seriously consider them, otherwise why on Earth would I spend $30K on this when I can spend $12K on a 40 mpg Toyota Yaris, or $18K on a Toyota Prius and then another $2K for the aftermarket plug-in charger, I’m still ahead $10, get 60 mpg and have 4 seats to boot!

TOC those Messerschmitts are cool, I like the “Snow White’s Coffin” versions (plexiglass top)

I like it!

I've got to say that is the most ugly beast I have ever seen and I thought the little French car I drove in Liberia Africa was a sin. The locals called it "Bobby Solo" Seems like it had something to do with a fellow that drove it long before me. It was reliable but no guts or glory.

Back in 1967 I had a Nash Metropolitan and it was cute but I didn’t like the column shift. I always thought I was going to break it off someday…

Cheers,

Someone bought it! Not surprised that was a hellova cheap price for a rare bird like that! Hell I woulda bought it if I had the spare change. I got a Honda n600 needing restoration, but no garage no work, so I gotta wait.
