Now THAT I call super cool!

Yep! In the liftoff photo, it looks like the flame is at least as long as the rocket!

What’s really impressive is that everything worked flawlessly. It even landed standing up! I’ve seen a lot of large, ambitious rocketry projects in my time, and there’s almost always some flaw, usually in the recovery. (We have a saying in the hobby, “The up part is easy.”)

Yeah, I was wondering about the “down part”, that could get expensive if the chutes don’t deploy

I volunteer HJ to play catcher. :stuck_out_tongue:

Super cool vid.

So, who needs NASA?

I goofed: The rocket is actually 36 feet tall, not 46 feet. Still impressive.

Now THAT is one impressive hobby…

I’d likely loose even that one

Probably the most impressive piece of machinery I’ve ever seen was the Saturn 5 rocket on display at the Space Center in Houston.
The plumbing around the thrusters is mind boggling.

Now that is a sweet model rocket!

Jon.

Fun stuff, but I couldnt do that, my pockets are not deep enough. I always remember the sage words of wisdom given me back when I contemplated RC aircraft. This was after his beautiful scale model airplane augered in after a bad takeoff:

“If you can’t afford to wreck’em, your in the wrong hobby” :open_mouth:

And he was right on! I’ve seen grown men break down and cry after their megabuck investment went nose first into the pavement and burned…Its like race cars, you have to budget completely totaling and replacing a $100K car to be a serious contender, if your nickle and diming it your gonna get burned.

So when does the X-Wing Mk2 go up???
