Getting carried away

I have given a lot of thought to On30 and was on the look for some HO track or switches.

I hit a gold mine in Shinohara HO switches !!! Fellow had over 230 switches with almost all brand new in the box. He had planned a really big layout but never made it so he was selling these cheeeeep.

Now if I can find a few thousand feet of track to go with some of the switches, I’ll start my layout in the loft.

Still like my table top layout outdoors with the goofy gauge stuff.

Hey, I have a friend that has five different gauges set up in his basement so this can’t be all that bad ?
Can it ?

Cheers,

Darryl,

Make sure you check that “Gold Mine” carefully for gauge and all that good stuff! Will save you a lot of grieve!

I have pictures of the stuff and it is Shinohara HO code 100 which will be fine doing On30… I even looked at the Shinohara switches at a local hobby shop… They didn’t have very much but then a lot of people went to code 83. Not too much diff 17 thousands…

Cheers,

Cute little buggers, ain’t they?

Today On30!..Tomorrow Nn2! yep! It’s a steep and slippery slope once the descent begins!

Agreed Richard!

Guys,

Look on the bright side if there is any, I can always go with plain ol’ HO stuff… No dark side there. Maybe a mix of On30 and HO ? Nahhh…

Now to figure how many of the 230 plus Shinohara turnouts to use and peddle the rest… I don’t think I could ever use 11 double slip switches or the 10 three-ways…

Oh ! It is going to be an adventure to say the least…

Cheers,
