General Announcement

Having my digital camera off for repair sucks.

This has been a general announcement. We now return you to your regular program.

I’m glad, the Nikon hasn’t had to go for repair – yet!

While at the Big-Box yesterday, I inquired how much the body for the Rebel XTi is; the salesman was surprised that my DigitalRebel was still in use. Apparently we are supposed to upgrade as soon as the next model is out. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: Of course the body for the XTi is about half the price of what I paid for the Rebel combo.

So it goes!

Talk about sucking…

I FINALLY get to the GOOD BEER STORE; defined as their entire stock does not consist of redneck horse whiz (Anything that has BUD in it, or appears as NASCAR sponser) and THEY ARE SOLD OUT OF OKTOBERFEST!!!

Poo…I picked up a sixpack of Blue Moon’s HArvest Moon Pumkin Ale…not near as good as their Summer Moon…or the regular Blue Moon…Luckily I snagged 6 of the Official Holy Water of Branch Railroadians JW DUNDEE HONEY BROWN to hold me over…

Never buy a Mercedes Benz!!!
When my wife retired, I bought her a new ML320, figgering it will last until we are kicking up daisies.
(My father in law’s C class lasted 16 years before it needed any major repair)
Ours has been in the shop at least 8 times. (Most for warranty repair) Lemon law doesn’t apply, because each break down must be the same item and happen three times.
However, the warranty ran out and it still makes regular trips into the shop.
Once the electric window driver’s side stuck in the down position.
Yesterday it did it again.
I have to drive the &^%$#*ing thing 20 miles in freezing weather tomorrow to get it fixed again!
I wish it was only my camera in the shop…
TOG

Looking at the weather, John, you should be able to get to the shop without getting wet… and the temp just might almost reach 60. :stuck_out_tongue:

Bart,
Had some locally brewed Oktoberfest at Sweetwater Tavern on Sunday. It would be a great place to eat when you visit your brother.

Also bought some Sam’s Oktoberfest…plenty at the local grocery. You should visit your brother…and then come over and run trains here!

How much is the new XTi going to be? I always have liked the old Canon better even if my old lenses don’t fit the new cameras!

Doug,

Depends where you shop. The Kit is about 650 to 800.

That is much improved!

Oh dear, you DO seem to have been having problems, don't you?

We have been buying Mercedes-Benz cars and stuff since 1952.

We currently have my old [1982] 380SL, and a couple of year old ML350 [our second]. Prior to that we had a run of 200/240 and 300D sloons.

Don’t have had problems like you have had.

Mind you, we don’t let Mercedes-Benz franchise dealersips anywhere near them, especially at almost $260 an hour labour here in yUK.

Instead, we buy from and get them serviced by a well-known local M-B-staffed service centre, where ALL the staff are former M-B techies who left the major dealerships when Daimler-Chrysler shat on them big-time in the reshuffle a few years back.

Between them they have over 200 years of experience, and we are more than happy to pay them a whole lot less than the ‘real’ M-B folk.

Incidentally, the very last time I went into the ‘real’ M-B dealership I was talking to a customer [with whom i also shoot on a sunday morning] in the reception area who was waiting for his $50K deposit on a 500SL to be returned to him. Seems he was the owner of a haulage company with about 50 M-B trailer trucks, which he replaced every three years at a cost of around $3.5M. When he ordered his new 500SL, he naturally expected to get a mite of preferential treatment, but was asked, instead for a 1/4 deposit. He was then told, after waiting for nearly six months, that his deposit was placed too late, and that they were unable to sell him a car that year, but if he cared to leave his deposit, they would ensure that he would be on the next year’s list…

Sounds like an interest-free loan of $50K to me…and to him.

He walked.

Last time I saw him he had changed all his trucks to Scania, and was driving a BMW 6-series.
