Large Scale Central

Gauntlet on the SJR&P

The SJR&P is an old railroad with sections dating from the mid 1980. As the railroad has evolved the overall plan has also changed several times.

The result is there was one section of the railroad that was very confusing as two different divisions shared the same short section of track.

This spring we rebuild this section and installed a gauntlet so that there is no longer any confusion as to which route you take as you exit this section.

Today we had our first operating session using the new track section and great success. We still have to design and finish the bent concept for this bridge. It is possible we will have the time to complete this by TrainOps.

Now that is pretty kewl!

Nice addition with rarely modeled track work Stan(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Very well done.

Nice trackwork, Stan… Looking forward to running on it in August… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

grrrr, was a duplicate…

excellent work!

Looks great Stan. Hope to be able to run with you guys this August.

i love gauntlets. they are so crashy…

Another beautiful bridge, as usual, Stan, and a great ‘fix’ for the trackwork there. That should make things easier. Or more confusing. Not sure, that bit of track is always a head scratcher.

That looks really nice, Stan. Where is it? I don’t recognize the location…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

That’s over by Big Rock and Gramdad.

Well, you certainly can’t get lost. Rooster could, but normal folks can’t. Bruce

Few photos have been taken of this area because it was one of our unfinished areas. In addition to the gauntlet. a new garden area is going in, a new 3 bent trestle will go on the rear track and the coaling dock is also under construction. Should look nice when finished.

As Bob pointed out it simplifies operation if you do not look at it but one or two tried to find the turnouts you used to switch and got confused.

I can see how the “before,” would be confusing. Good job.

Very interesting… Nice job. Do you have a photo of the whole layout to see how it runs? (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Very funny Noel!

You would need an aerial shot!

This is a picture of one of the train clipboards. Most of the track is shown, and the route for this specific train is hilighted. Pictures cannot do it justice, the layout is enormous.

This is from my visit a few years ago

It’s not nearly as small as Bob states. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Looking forward to seeing it this August!
