Gauge 1 Golden Age set 1st run in public

See the first public showing of Golden Age’s drop-dead gorgeous Coronation commemorative coach set, seen in public for the first time at Ruddingon last thursday and run for us by a member of the Yorkshire group.

Best in HD to appreciate the astonishing level of detail we have gotten used to seeing from this prestige maker, and hauled by Aster’s iconic three-cylinder ‘Mallard’, this train, plus the so-far absent observation and WORKING dynamometer coach, will be re-enacting, in Gauge 1, the 1938 record run at the National Railway museum soon.

Details of the coaches from Golden Age Models Ltd, to whom thanks are due for allowing us to have this sneak preview.

I have stills of these remarkable coaches, if anyone not at the Invasion is not too busy to post for me.

Those look great. I like the color.

So you should, the set is $13,700.

Even if I was a fan of British style coaches a set would never grace my rails. That’s way, way too rich for my blood!

I’m sorry to hear that - prolly be one of the only sets in the USA!

Mind you, Golden Age are also the makers of the most exquisite Pullman cars as well, with a level of detail that is truly astonishing. The dining car has full place settings on the tables, including cutlery and wine glasses…and THEY are expensive - around $1600 each.

The video shows the 0 scale electric version [also in Gauge 1] with full recorded three-cylinder Gresley cylinder beat and chime whistle and pulsed smoke. Also available in 00 scale as well. Their website is worth spending a few minutes looking at, even if their stuff is not to your taste - rarely does the word exquisite get used these days. Here, it is the standard description.
