Gasp...the NRA is endorsing a Democrat

Heath Shuler , Blue Dog Democrat, receives the NRA’s endorsement over his Republican rival.
More evidence that all Democrats are not trying to take away our guns.

They’ll kill him off if he doesn’t conform and then blame it on the gun lobby.

Who would kill him off if he doesn’t conform?
The Democrats?
Or, the Gun Lobby?

It’s just a “Universal THEY”, we use it to cover a lot of unknown people or groups. Later on it is followed by “I told you so”, declaring that I was right, even when I didn’t really know if anything was really going to happen. These work very well, with “We’ve always done it that way”, “I wasn’t working that day”, or (one of the best) “nobody ever showed me” (that blames everybody above you in the chain of command). My favorite is “I am not now, nor have I ever been, part of the conspiracy against this company, group, oirgaization or Country” (that insunuates there is a conspiracy, but you decided not to join in, but that you did know about it) and then, of course, the very best “That’s not my job”.

LOL! Another good one: “I don’t have that authority”. Used by people who are never able to put you in touch with someone who actually does have any authority. This phrase is often preceded by, “I don’t make the rules, I just enforce them.”

With all the money he got from the Redskins for being a suck-a** quarterback, somebody should have shot him in the head.

Fortunately, so far, he is a better Congressman than quarterback. Voted against the bailout, both times. One of the few politicians I haven’t had to bitch about lately.

I had a sales manager once who turned that one around and used it offensively to get what he wanted from a buyer. Essentially his line was, "I know you really like my product, and you want to help me out, but you just don't have the authority to do so. That's OK, I'll find someone who does." This put down usually resulted in the person saying that they did in fact have the authority to make the purchase. Then he would move in for the close.

A friend who worked for me at the time has effectively used this tactic with customer service people time and time again to get what he wants.
