Steve I would pay to see you try and carry a Bachmann K27 and three J&S passenger cars on your bike ;) :D
Gas prices are so high that the local gangs are doing walk-by shootings.

Get a bicycle.

I bet he would be a sight coasting downhill. You know gravity being put to work and all that!
Hey Victor, that black truck you posted pictures of is called a F-650 Xtreme. I’m hoping my next truck is similar to that one. They get 13 mpg loaded or unloaded. They will also run on waste oils.
One thing everyone should remember is, diesel engines were never designed to run on commercial diesel fuel. The original design was to be used with veggie oil. The Ford model T was also designed to be built with diesel engines but the decision to use gas fired engines was made at the last minute because gas was cheaper then diesel. Plus gas engines cost less to manufacture. They don’t last as long as diesel engines but they are cheaper to make… Model T’s also got the same mileage as the current Ford Explorer’s, about 15 mpg.

I drove a 2005 F-550 Diesel at work for several years. 6-7mpg and I can’t tell you how many injectors we had to replace running diesel. I can’t imagine trying to run it on waste oil.
This December the boss replaced it with a much larger Chevy Kodiak 5500.9-10mpg.

I know thats not great but for the size truck she is its not bad. I'm looking into making my own biodiesel. I can get a ready to run set up for about $3000.00 and should have that paid for with in 23 tanks of fuel. Thats about 6 months of driving. Could be well worth it if I can find a good suppier for the oil. I will chek my local food joints and see whats there.

Prior to the 2005,we ran a 1999 F450 with the 7.3L diesel. Better fuel millage than the 2005 and much more reliable.

Ralph Berg said:agreed. The 7.3 was way better then the 6.0 diesel. My old truck was a 98 f-250 and it got unreal milage.

Oh ya, the 6.0 is nothing like the 7.3 DI’s. Hands down a the 7.3 is much better in every way. My truck has lots of miles and still runs great. If something does break (and it will) I’ll just fix it. Over the course of it’s life to this point it’s been the best vehicle I’ve ever owned or driven. I’d even dare say it’s been the most economical. Wrap everything from initial cost, maintenance, operations, insurance, comfort, performance, safety and abilities (I tow huge trailers up to 10,000 pounds) into the factor and it’s hands down the best vehicle.
Many years ago some of the big truck manufacturers even used oil burning systems on their trucks. I think it was Autocar or Mack, they had a system on their engines that would siphon oil from the crank case and burn it with the diesel. The truck driver was required to top up the engine oil every so many miles to be sure the engine didn’t run out of oil…

Went to town .... regular gas now at C$1.259/LI’ve got three bicycles, a road bike, a mountain bike and one for the windload trainer. Any suggestions whatelse I could need? Oh yeah, did you know the cycling is the perfect complimentary sport to XC skiing?
I have four (4) bicycles; a criterium bike, and more relaxed frame road bike for touring, a hard tail mountain bike, and a tandem. I don’t know what kind of riding you like to do, so I really can’t make any recommendations. I suppose that you might add a trailer to pull behind your bike for those times when you want to haul cargo.
I know that bicycling is great cross training for skiing. Its also great training for bicycling…
