Gas Prices

Heheh!

I’ve seen another version that lists the prices as “Arm” and “Leg”.

Welcome to California we just broke $4 in some places, and we havent even changed to pricier summer formula yet :frowning:

…I seem to be having a problem here…I use Gasolene/petrol in my automobile, and you guys talk of Gas…what type; Natural Gas, Methene, Butaene, etc. Gasolene/petrol up here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is selling at around $1.10 a litre, but in some places I have seen it as low as $0.99.

You Gas/gasolene burners have it easy.
I drive a diesel truck and its $4.35 a gal.
for are metric friends thats about 4 litres.

What is Methene or Butaene? some canadian by-product?.......;)

sob … sob … sob …

Looks like we need to get used to it, drive less, walk more, ride a bicycle, roller blades or whatever. BTW that is healthy!

In the same dept: a mfg of electric vehicles here in BC has just sold the operation to Pakistan since the regulations for such vehicles are an absolute hinderance in Canada. i.e. the DoT (Feds) would only licence the vehicle type for 40km/h. Really smart when the “in-town” speed is mostly 50km/h und the vehicle could handle 60km/h.

I just filled my car this morning- Price for Premium Petrol (gasoline to the US) is $1.48 litre. It certainly takes a chunk out of the pay packet to fill up. My tank holds 72 litres.
One thing in my favour, is, I work away from home a bit (just returned from 3 weeks in China) but I always fill my tank before I go away because who knows what the price will be when I get back.

I am paying A$0.56c a litre for LPG.

Just as well, as my 351 cu in Cleveland powered Fords are fuel hogs.

Before Christmas I was paying A$0.49c a litre.

Get used to it, guys!
It will never go back to the good ole days.
We are catching up with European gas prices.
Trouble is, we don’t have a fine transportation system in place like the Swiss do.
And we will not give up our cars until they pry our cold, dead fingers off of the steering wheel.
And we can’t seem to wean ourselves out of those giant Utes and into Mini’s.

I think I am going to build one of those veggy oil things and run my truck on used cooking oil. Lots of places to get it for free or cheep close to me. then I would only have to worry when I travel but from what I read, the truck should also still run fine on diesel. Will have to do more home work on this.

But then your car smells like fish & chips or fried chicken. You'd never be able to get any place, always being hungry and stopping for food. :D

Get Smart:

Guys,
Don’t you know it’s all a Bush conspiracy to get us out of our gas hogs?
Remember, He said in a speech a while back, “Americans MUST wean themselves from oil!”

but the dog would always be willing to get in the truck. Besides I could use a few extra LBS .

LPG is 68.9 here in Adelaide :frowning:

I run lots of used motor oil, used trans fluid, kerosene, used veggy oil and biodiesel in my F-350 Diesel. When it’s free, life is good!

Jon.

Jon,

Other than filtering it, especially the used veggy oil, what else have you done to allow your F-350 to run on these waste products? I heat the shop at our marina with used oil products. Totally resolves the waste oil problem and is basically reasonable even though the furnace cost quite a bit.

In the winter months I convert the veggie oils into biodiesel (remove the glycerin) so it doesn’t gel in my tanks. Other than that all I do is filter everything I burn with a 4 micron filter. My filters are FoMoCo inline trans filters used to protect remanufactured transmissions from the factory. I have a source at Ford but you can get them from dealers. I also magnetize the filters with heavy magnets to help catch any metal particles in the oils. My truck is stock with a 444E International engine (7.3L Power Stroke). The stock injectors will pass up to 4 micron particles without hurting the engine or injector nozzles. The truck has over 260,000 miles and is just now ready for a new set of injectors.

Jon,

Thanks for the response. That is most interesting and much of what we do when heating with the used oil products. We don’t worry about the magnetism since our single injector on the furnace is considerably bigger. How is the body of the truck holding up? Over a 1/4 of a million miles is a goodly amount for a small vehicle. What year is it?
