Galactic 1/29th Day

That’s right. Today is 1/29 (January 29th) and you may recall that last year it was declared (by none other than me) as “Worldwide 1/29th Day” and the year before it was declared “International 1/29th Day.” Well, this year we’ve decided to go bigger (bigger than 1/32, at least), and call it “GALACTIC 1/29th DAY.”

Coincidently, it also just happens to fall on my birthday again this year. Coincidence or not, the best way to celebrate this momentous occasion is to send all gifts to me care of this site. Your participation in any singing or cake eating is entirely up to you.

-Kevin.

BTW- For those of you who are into 1/24th, you have missed your day. People in 1/20.3 only get 2/3rds of a celebration. 1/22.5 get half a day, and 1/32 get nothing. Sorry (hey, I didn’t invent the calendar).

We celebrate our day with not quite the fan fare the 1/29ers do…

lol,

Kevin,

Happy Birthday and Happy Galactic 1/29th day. Even though it is yet another holiday to be exploited by American capitalism, whereby the likes of Bachmann, MicroMark, USATrains will convience us that the right thing to do is spend money on buying you a gift. I prefer to celebrate my 2/3rds of a day with close friends and family quietly enjoy time with my trains.

Ha, no just kidding. Have a great day and may it be filled with all sorts of G-reat gifts

I mentioned to SWMBO that today was 1/29 day, and that she was expected to help me celebrate it by buying me a gift of that Burlington boxcar that I’ve been lusting after.

At first, I got a blank stare, then uproarious laughter.

I need to refine my approach.

First, though, I need to stop living so dangerously.

Happy 1/29 day, all y’all.

I would have a hard time finding more than 1/29th of my track at the moment! I’m actually kind of glad to see Gauge 1 month come to a close!

…egads; I guess that’s why I bought myself a large bottle of whine, and just now am settling in with my second bheer…never even thought I was celebrating anything, much more than being alive and having fun.

Getting more difficult all the time to celebrate properly. My stock of 12GA shells is good…my stock of 1:29 stuff to use in the celebration is quite small. This may be the last year I can properly celebrate it.

The are plenty of manufactures that still make 1:29th stuff Dave so you can always restock ¿

Happy Birthday Kevin

David.

Apart from USAT, exactly how many manufacturers have a range of 1:29 scale equipment available for sale in an ongoing basis?

Gents- Sincere thanks for all the “well wishes” and to all that had some fun with this lighthearted look at this great hobby of ours (yes, even those of you in those “other” scales!). I hope you’ve all enjoyed this years 1/29th extravaganza as much as I did. Now, where’s that cake…

-Kevin.

Kevin…no cake, only cup cakes.
