Impressive! What is the bench-work made out of? Are any of these locos remote controlled, or are they all free running? At the speeds these trains are running, a derailment must be a real disaster!

Hi a few of them were radio but mostly free running. The top of the track is I believe marine ply covered in roofing felt. To be honest the camera seems to add speed to the shots but I find slowing the film down a bit of a cheat. The risk of derailment is quite small here as the track is so level and well laid. Having said that there was one small incident when one of the runners dogs felt the urge to join him inside the track and in the process of jumping over knocked over his loco. No damage, small meths fire, much Mickey taking!
I really enjoy making these little videos and as a group in this area it’s good to have a permanent record of get togethers.
