G scale power

I have 3 DC USA Trains G scale Locomotive’s . What is the best power supply . I have read and heard I couldn’t use Aristo-Craft power supply’s with those Locomotives .The manuel says 0-22 volts DC for these trains . I don’t have it close by ,but I believe it is the Aristo-Craft 5460 10 amp power supply controller "It was given to me " . It says with Pulse Width Control . Some say you cannot use PWC with these Locomotives … Just getting other Opinions .please help

Hey Mark - Welcome to LSC. Lots of manufacturers claim you can’t run their stuff on PWC, but with the exception of a few LGB motors, they all run fine. Most Aristo supplies have a switch to turn off PWC if you don’t want it. I’ve run my USA diesels on PWC for years with no ill effects.

I have a 10 amp. Aristo (Crest brand) “switching” power supply with four of Aristo’s controllers running to different parts of our layout. I run USA, LGB, Bachman, HWL, and in particular, USA’s GP 38 with no problems. I certainly would put a 4 amp in-line fuse holder and fuse on the positive lead wire going to the track. I also use a MRC 10 AMP power supply for a single point-to-point reversing line – for street cars. For the money, the MRC is ideal.

It’s been a long time since anyone used track power around here, but from memory…
All brands of out-of-the-box- lokies ran on LGB Jumbos, Bridgewerks, Crest, and MRC.
No one gave it second thoughts.

Bridgwerks 10 amp, although the actual amperage you’ll need or want depends on the size of your layout and how many trains and accessories you expect to run. Bridgwerks has a good, if slow, policy of fixing their power supply units if anything goes wrong. I’ve had mine for 9 years. It runs everything just fine on 500’ of track, with sometimes as many as 3 track-powered trains pulling 7-10 cars.
