FYI- People who have build logs on MLS

I know that a few people have mentioned that they are moving the build logs from MLS over to LSC, but if you haven’t done so you might want to reconsider doing ASAP. Apparently the MLS software is going to be changed on Wed 2/19 starting at midnight (no time zone listed, so it’s anyone’s guess). No official news on whether the new forums will keep the old threads. So if you’re worried about potentially losing info you might consider saving it.

I know I have a few build logs on MLS that I might be will moving.

My logs are usually duplicated here and on MLS, my photo storage is what I am more concerned with. Thats not supposed to be affected…we’ll see.

Vic,

I host my photo’s off MLS (and LSC) so I wasn’t to worried, but if for some reason the old posts never see the light of day it would be disappointing. Since a lot of folks either post in both, or in the past posted there I thought a PSA might be helpful!

I mainly posted on MLS, but the last few years I’ve tried to post here as well. I’m starting to see the beauty of a blog everything in one place! But with a blog you don’t get the site traffic that MLS or LSC would get, nor is there an easy way for commenting, etc.

I had expressed my concern as I have 3 build threads and some pics are from a dead pc. A friend told me he made them into PDFs and is willing to send me copies. That’s this lazy man’s way…

Looking back with an honest eye… I bet a lot of those threads could be trimmed … a great deal!

Hopefully they can lose all the ones where I was tilting at windmills…

My understanding is that the posts will just be migrated over without issue. They built a beta site for the mods to test drive, and all the old posts were there on the beta site. I could easily search to find old stuff I’ve long-since forgotten. (Heck–fixing the search engine is enough of an improvement!)

I’m told all the posts, post counts, settings, etc. will transition seamlessly to the new software.

Exactly my point. If you haven’t save it, it might be worth the few seconds to save, just in case.

“What is MLS?”

Multiple Listing Service. Very helpful when looking for places to build your garden railroad.

for fear of loosing my content, i have some time ago done the following:
copied all my pics, that were somewhere in the net to my computer at home.
copied all the texts, that i thought worthwile to .txt - files.

from these downloads i restored some topics already for my website on my own space.

newer pics i am storing on my own space in the web plus, under the same name, in identical directories, on one of my PCs.
