Future direction of Magazines

This magazine is one of my favorites.

Yup, Narrow Gauge Gazette is the only one I subscribe to anymore. Plenty of outstanding articles and the photography is fantastic.

The other magazines just seem like the same rehashed articles over and over. Finally dropped MR after reading my 100th “How to choose a DCC controller” article. And their “how-to’s” don’t go into any detail. They say, “do this, do that”, but they don’t go into HOW to do what they are doing.

Highly recommend the Gazette! Articles are much more in-depth.

Scott

Scott , I think that you’ve hit the nail where it hurts .
The “smaller” magazines tend to be more helpful to modellers in the sense you mention .
Does this mean that most modellers have difficulty in putting into writing the how-to ?
Or is it that limited run or limited size mags have to work at it to produce a viable mag without the backing of rich advertising ?
I take all the small ones I can get—there may not be so much to read , but it’s all interesting .
I am glad to see that NG Down Under has expanded under new ownership, the content is still excellent , and the title is misleading. It is prominently Ozzie , but the latest issue leaps abroad , That is , away from Oz . they are not too insular there .
