Fuel tank Size on a RUBY OR MIMI

I am new to live steam but had an electric and battery operated garden railroad a few years back. Now starting again at a new location after retirement. I bought an ACCUCRAFT MIMI, should be here any minute!

I was wondering how big the fuel tank is on the RUBY. I have 7.8 oz cans of butane and want to know how many times this would fill the tank? If anyone knows I’d appreciate a response. The butane cans have a plunger style like Ronson refills but just a bit bigger hole. I think it will still work though.

I’ve looked all over and can’t locate an answer for you. Quickest answer would probably come from calling Cliff at Accucraft.

Learned an awful lot about steam on this site and others. Isn’t the internet awsome for people that want to learn???

Yesiree… You can learn even more from this crew on the CHAT section. There’s a tremendous amount of knowledge available from these fellas, me not included. I’m no font of knowledge like these guys. Ask a question, ANY train related question and wait for the responses to start flowing in.

Kurt - Ian Pearse of Accucraft UK sent me this - The Ruby and Mimi gas tanks are the same size.

The external size is 51mm x 26mm x 21mm.

That gives you a capacity of ca. 28cc - that converts into just under 1 [UK] fluid oz of butane. You’ll have to excuse me if I have it wrong, I’m not used to using your rather odd non-metric measurements!

Over here we use the butane cans until they run out, then we use another one - we don’t fuss too much about how many fills we get, or not.
