Friends are good

It’s been a tough couple of weeks since Jean fractured her femur, but I have really enjoyed the responses I have had from my friends here at LSC. It’s so cool; many of you I have met; others not. But I feel like I have a LOT of support here.

Thanks, guys and gals!

She’s supposed to come home Friday, but it’s been really tough on me (after almost 44 years of marriage you’d think I’d be immune). Lots of nice comments and support.

Hey, we’re almost back in the fight!

kind of surprising the things they do we take for granted. Several years ago my wife took a week to go visit her daughter 1800 miles away after birth of our grandson, well the delivery blew apart our daughters pelvis, found out after she was home for 3 days so wife ended up staying to help for 3 and a half months. it was an education to me to coordinate all the things I did and all the things she did.

Bruce sorry to hear about your wife, hope she is up and doing well soon

Pete,

How true. Things you think will NEVER happen to you. Wow…3 1/2 months is a LONG time. Bless her.

Yes, Jean is doing much better, but probably the worse part was in the emergency room when she was in such pain and I was completely helpless.

Yep, have experienced that: am no longer married, but, yep, that is a rough place to be. Aw man. Glad that she’s going to be back home soon. Sorry I’ve missed this until now.

Repeat after me: “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home”…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

first thing i read about this.

decades ago i read a meme.

women… we can’t live with them, and we can’t live without them…

after 38 years i can say, the second half of that say is true.

all those little things, we take for granted, or don’t even notice - until we miss them!

for you it’s pay back time now, while she needs help.

may your wife recover quickly.

Korm I thought that saying was: “Women, can’t live with them, can’t shoot’em”. Or according to Willie Nelson: “You can’t hang a man for killing a woman who was trying to steal his horse”.

Perhaps I am slower on the uptake than the rest of you. Even as I write this Mrs Boomer is giving me that look she uses when she thinks I have done something wrong… I better take her to breakfast and maybe buy her flowers just in case I have done something wrong and don’t know it.

For the rest of you remember Mother’s Day is coming up. Get the Mrs something nice. Hint: do not get her a new locomotive for the layout. I will never make that mistake again. Geez, when I asked what she wanted for a present she said, “Oh anything will be fine”. So of course it was my fault. Like we haven’t been married all these years and she has no idea how such general instructions will be interpreted.

In any event Bruce, I hope Mrs Chandler is feeling better and makes a speedy recovery.

Ha! Its 3.40pm here and my wife has her feet up and gently snoring away…Bliss!(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

(64 yrs married)!

Hope Mrs Chandler will be up and running soon Bruce.

Sounds like good news, Bruce.

So you have 1 more day to clean the house, change the sheets, and get a bell that she can ring when she wants something.

Ding-a-ling-a-ling…coming!

Bruce, I hope Jean makes a full recovery soon. I know she will be well taken care of when she returns home. We … well, I guess I shouldn’t generalize … I do take the little lady for granted some time and only realize it when she is not there to take care of me and do all the little things she does around the house. So, I will take Boomer’s advice and get her something nice for Mother’s Day. No, it won’t be a new engine. Probably a new vacuum cleaner or broom or maybe even a new mop!!

GET WELL SOON, JEAN. We are all thinking of you and Bruce.

Ken?? Since you said that, does that mean Bruce has to buy a pair of Ruby Red High Heels, so he can click the heels 3 times to get there???

Bruce, good to hear she is doing well, and will be home shortly…

Best wishes for a speedy and painfree recovery…

Glad to hear Jean is doing better and will be coming home to the 23/7 pampering(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif) Only the best Bruce

Bruce,

I am coming late to the party. Prayers for you and your wife. Hope she recovers quickly.

Oh man, that’s rough! So sorry she’s going through this. Prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Glad Jean is doing better. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Thanks, guys.

Jean came home today, so all is right with the world. Still a long road to recovery; baby steps, like she takes with her walker now. Getting in and out of the SUV is not easy, but she does OK with stairs (at least at the rehab center).

But, life is slowly returning to what passes for normal around here.

Yay! This is when it is good to have a SUV or van instead of some low sleek sporty thing or a tiny city-style car.
