Some people are reporting problems with their freight sheds. Im tracking it down, stay tuned.

Not a gremlin this time, but an attack. Sometime on Saturday, the site was attacked, and random directories and/or files were deleted. For example, every image in my main directory was deleted, but not the sub directories. Other people had everything, including their base directory deleted. Nasty, and hard to track down.

Rhey’re just hiding on Bob’s layout. At least you still have your picture. Mine’s gone at the moment.
Got mine too! Ah S___t. At least they are in my computer. Thing like this make you want to DISCONNECT from the internet. Oh well I can maybe put them back with some captions so we know what we are looking at.
Also, Bob, if you find out who, let me know I have access to a large excavator, we can bury them real deep, even the dogs will not find them!

What a bunch of chit… Need to be hung them by you know what… Bob… Do you have records of the IP nbr of Sat logs…?? Sometime there a way to go after the IP nbr. and locate there server.

Boy what a bummer of screwing around with a good train site by people that really don’t know the hobby. But hackers can screw up things and show how they can be a big shot to mess up this world…

Yea, the first out is an .ru server, so no help there. Its increasingly common for attacks to get bounced around through Russia or Belarus. Grrr…

I wonder if it’s script kiddies or someone with an ax to grind. I think MLS has had some attacks lately too.

My photos all lost too. I started replacing some of them that I have backed up. Then this morning, I found my laptop DOA. Unfortunately, some of my photos were on the laptop and not yet backed up at home. They were backed up here. Never considered Bob and I might have problems at the same time.
Oh well. Sh*t happens and hopefully we all learn something from our mistakes.

If you know someone who is skilled in Linux, he may be able to recover the photos off the hard drive of the laptop externally from the machine. I have done that with a friend of mine with one of my windows drives.

My servers has entire subnet masks blocked from China and Russia. I quit fooling with trying to locate one at a time.

The situation should only be temporary.
Most of the recent photos I posted were on the laptop. So it will delay my uploading of them.

I’ve restored a bunch of missing files and directories. Some of them are hard to dig up.
The Freight Sheds are going to get a complete overhaul, adding some new features, including better security. The problem with using the same code too long is that it gives hackers/crackers time to find the holes. Grr.
