Large Scale Central

Freight Shed picture problem

I’ve paid my $20 and signed in, but when I try to upload new pictures, they upload to my freight shed, but when I write something in a forum and try to add pictures, they are not in the freight shed to add to a reply? Never had this problem before.

I thought that too, till I saw the “forumfiles” link at the top. Hit that and voila…there they all were…

Yep, exactly. I see a bunch of your pics in the forumfiles directory, uploaded today.

headslap.

Doh!

I see the forum files, when I click on the freight shed at the bottom of the Post Reply form. I click on it and old uploads show, but not the new ones. I can see them if I use the Freight Shed that is up under the word ‘Central’ in the title, but not when I click on the freight shed in the reply form. I opened up my freight shed, the copied the url, but that seems pretty clumsy, compared to the old way.

Jerry…

I through that the way it had to be done was copy and paste the frt. shed on post ?

What other way do you do it out of your files?. Sorry, I’m new on having it now.

Well, before the revamp of the site, you just clicked on 'my file’s at the bottom and your pictures showed up and you picked what you wanted and it appeared in your reply. Nice and simple.

Yeah, Jerry, all the changes around here are going to take some getting used to.

For what it’s worth I’ve discovered that once you do find yr pic and open it, you can right-click on it before it’s completely open and grab its url right away then exit that window & paste the url into yr post. I’m on dialup and that has been a timesaver for me.

Once the photo is in your Freight Shed, it’s pretty easy. No cut & paste required.

Simply double click the file and it goes straight to your post

Well Ralph, the new pix I’ve uploaded don’t show in the freight shed when you click on the box at the bottom of the reply program, just old pix I’ve uploaded in the past.

Well, I just looked again and now those new uploads do appear, weird!

I had to click on the pix and drag it over to the message though, double clicking did not work, nor did a single click. Maybe because I have a iMac? I use Firefox, had no problems with this before the forum ‘fix’.

I like the loco Ralph, the paint job is very smart…

Is it my imagination, or are there far fewer forum posts around here lately. I noticed after the ‘fix’ that i wasn’t getting anymore updates on threads I had subscribed to before, and for about the past week or so when I go to the Forums homepage there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of any new posts. A few weeks ago there was a regular crowd, I’d get quite a number of updates in my mailbox every day, but now it’s a virtual drought. I wonder where everyone is hiding out… You guys noticed anything like that?

You can’t drag the picture - it will only display in the editor, not the forum. One way is to double click to open then copy the URL from the browser.

I give up, Guess if I copy the URL on the pix and paste it in it works. Still seems clumsy compared to how it was. This is a watercolor I did of the Challenger from pix I took when it came through Lex.

If you see the picture in the edit window then you have done it right. If you see only text then you have the wrong extension. This is almost the exact opposite of how you post picture from an offsite host.

Exactly the opposite. If you see an image in the editor window it will not display in the forum. You should see the URL including the filename in the edit window. The preview window should tell you if you have it right.

That’s a thing of beauty, Jerry. I right-clicked on it to get the url, then tried opening it in another window to see the whole thing, but I only got a 404 error. Which is kinda weird…

JB: Maybe you could resize your scan to 800 px wide so we could see the whole engine. I had to do that to a bunch of my stuff on here.

I downloaded it and resized it myself, I can e-mail it to you. Backchannel me.

Okay John, it is small now. On my Mac, I can just click on the picture and drag it to my desktop. Not sure what you PC people do.

If I had painted that I’d be pretty darn proud of myself!
