Freelance coach/caboose/combine from HLW coach body

Okay, enough done to give idea where freelance coach/caboose/combine from HLW coach body is going I forget who sent me the body and frame last year (2009) or even if he is on this forum; but whoever you were, thanks  Idea is to use some 3 foot cars as inspiration and come up with multi-purpose car for freelance line Willow Creek Traction. Think it will look pretty good on tail end of mixed train behind HLW “Sparky” 4-wheel trolley loco.

(NOTE: motor block is not in Sparky right now) WCT colors are GN Glacier Green or NYC Jade for freight and orange with maroon trim for passenger stock. This is going in orange which makes plastic color helpful for assessing how this joker is going to look. Roof is just going to be a simple slightly arched roof --> NOT interested in trying to build a clerestory roof. Might fill in excess cupola windows, might not. Baggage door will slide forward under cupola. Might say toilet is under cupola too; or might be located at front right windows for a nice sized compartment. Trucks? Now there’s a question. Kind of leaning toward Bachmann passenger trucks.

Here are some links to prototype inspirations for this porject.

Looks like an interesting project.
Use a “frosted” window for your restroom.
Ralph

You showed your idea, have you made any headway ?

No Dave, been working on other projects which are behind where I wanted to be 4 months ago.

Well, maybe it is progress to have mentally figured out how to do the interior lighting?
Decided on-board 9v battery like the Bachmann cars. How does it sound to have cupola removable with battery in a clip from Radio Shack? Am going to put bulkheads with doors either end of cupola, making battery not to be seen.

Still trying to noodle out details of roof construction - will be a round roof, no clerestory.

Thanks :) And, always frosted windows, I like those.

Here we go, a little bit of progress never hurt no one. Cupola will lift off for access to battery compartment. bulkheads will wind up with door detail on outsides.
