Okay, so a two-week abstainment turned out to be darned-near impossible.
Gabriel Alexander was discharged from the hospital about 4:45pm Friday evening, only about 28hours old. While having a high bilirubin count, it was deemed not high enough to be worrisome. Another check by a home-health agent on Saturday afternoon confirmed him to be good. Finally, a small heart condition was detected, though its one of those things that can correct itself over the next few months, or he might live with a variant of it for the rest of his life. No danger though at this time, so just one checkup with a pediatric cardiologist to ensure he’s okay and thats the end of his initial delivery issues.
All in all, it was a GREAT experience. After having our last two kids be transported to the NICU less than 24hours after delivery, I had to fight to get my wife to agree to plan the delivery AT the hospital with the NICU. They were courteous, polite, very helpful and (from my point of view) the best part was they completely understood our concerns of why we were at that hospital.
We are of course glad to be home. The other four are chomping to be the first to old their baby brother, but its obviously gonna be a bit before that happens, lol.
The really funny part of all this, which came to me just Sunday night, our five kids, in reverse order:
Gabe
Aiden
Lizzie
Logan
Amelia
Their first initials are the first five letters of our last name, lol!
