Fraudulent eBay seller!

I put a bid on one of these over a month ago -

an Aristo 46601 Railway Express Agency (REX) Wood Truss Reefer and won it for $0.99 because it was listed in “other” on eBay. I promptly paid via eBay for the item plus Priority mail shipping and waited. Emailed the seller after a couple of weeks and after 3 weeks I got a message saying the item was to be shipped. Got back from vacation and after 2 weeks nothing at my door! Emailed seller again and 2 days later the seller has canceled their eBay account! Already put my complaint into PayPal. eBay seller ID was - bimmer323boy Seller’s name - Debra A Steele Seller PayPal ID - [email protected] -Brian

Oh well, Stuff Happens !
Especially on Ebay.

Brian, since your bid (and total cost) comes in under $20 you’ll be lucky to ever hear a thing from ebay (paypal) other than the typical “we’re (not) working hard for you”

Thanks for passing the info on. Sorry to hear of your loss. I understand wanting to have this piece of rolling stock and I’m glad you didn’t get burnt worse.

You are lucky since the payment was done with Paypal. If the dealer dos not replay, just escalate the claim, paypal will reimburse you, and the dealer has to deal with paypal, what i think is no fun. Even if they canceled the E-bay account, they need a paypal account to receive paypal payments, and for that a confirmed bank account is needed. By the way, many people are not aware that a winning bid is a legal binding contract for both sides, it also means that the vendor can’t refuse to ship, even if the vendor returns the money. Just fill out the complaint form, it always works. PJ

Sorry,
I beg to differ, where you say it always works, I bid on a couple of battered
Loco`s which were supposed to work, Paid around $60.00 including Postage,

When they arrived they were Sn3 Locos not Gauge1!, and niether worked, I complained to "Evilbay" and they said because it was paid thru “Paypal”
I would need to claim thru` them!.

I did this requesting a refund, was told by “Paypal” everything looked all
right to them and no refund would be forthcoming to me.
Im now going to try a claim thru “Evilbay” because the Locos dont work. Ill let you know what transpires, The Sellers Name is “Brain Brown”
Be Aware!.

Sincerely,
John.

I always cringe when I win an item with a minimum bid. Why ? Because I know the chances are good I will never receive the item. They always seem to be “lost” during shipment. I’ve never had any problems getting a refund, although I have had several try to unsuccessfully keep the money paid for shipping.

Hey Folks, it is interesting to read about the problems you encountered. Out of the 350 e-Bay deals i made so far, i had maybe 5-7 negative experiences. When ever a item was significant not as described, i was always refunded the difference which i asked fore. Be aware that i pay always with paypal, since it is only paypal which will take any necessary action. If you escalate the case from a dispiute to a claim, paypal will investigate the case. This investigation goes so far that you might have to send in additional proof. if i remember right, it is a whole different ball game if someone does not use paypal. E-bay has a tool which allows to argue with the vendor (dispute), and it is assumed that buyer and vendor find this way a solution, but that is the extend of it.

Be aware that E-Bay has a lot of tools which help to resolve any trouble. for example most folks are not aware that it is possible to request the vendors home address, once you have a winning bid you can request phone# and E-mail address, home address. The vendor is informed about such request, and once you have this information it is a different ball game. Even i do not contact any vendor, it is a great psychological tool, it removes the false feeling of being protected in this so anonymous internet.

When i started to buy larger equipment, up to $4000, E-bay sent me a special phone number and a pin, this way it is possible for me to get a line to the resolution center, talking live to a ebay represent. I guess that it would be way to much effort for ebay to care about all the smaller cases, but if bigger amounts are traded, they seem to care a bit more.

How ever, for me E-bay is a absolute great place to buy inexpensive tools. here a sample of my last deal. for $150 i bought a Mitutoyo tool, which would cost new about $560/600 http://www.drillspot.com/products/350731/Mitutoyo_543-463B_Electronic_Digital_Indicator http://www.drillspot.com/products/351362/Mitutoyo_7004_Indicator_Stand
Since the measuring stand ($200 new) was included, i got a tool for a price which can’t be beaten.

I have made great deals on eBay. But I also know when I win items worth a $50 and more with a 99 cent bid, chances are good I will be receiving a refund instead of the merchandise. I’ve learned to accept the practice and don’t get upset about it. There are many eBay dealers that will eat the “loss” and ship you the item. But there are just as many that will end up telling you the item was “lost” and issue a refund.

Paypal decided the case in my favor and has already deposited all funds back into my account! Sounds like they got their act together.
