Look at what someone was giving away locally. A couple lengths of aluminum I beam.
So what, you say? Well, they’re exactly wide enough for the belt that I have, and now I can build the car loading conveyors at the coal mine.

Neat Find, Just add 3d printed pulleys. i think if you price it out would be quite expensive.

Sometimes I use Freecycle.org to locate materials, searching on various metals, wood, plastics. It’s rare, but I have found nice stuff here and there.

It pays to always have your RR antennae up.
For a while I was getting a bunch of landscaping stuff off FreeCycle (rocks, bricks, cobblestones, etc) but the lists around here have all dried up.
