I hope this doesn’t get me in trouble, but bumpimg around ebay I found someone selling a box in like new condition to hold a complete 12pcs of curved LGB track, not the track, but the box only. Hurry a price like this will not last. I wonder if you have to put the empty box IN a box to ship it? http://www.ebay.com/itm/LGB-16000-RADIUS-3-BRASS-CURVED-TRACK-EMPTY-BOX-ONLY-LN-CONDITION-FITS-12-PCS-/281938129257?hash=item41a4d27169:g:rQcAAOSwbqpTyKU2

Lol, OK well I don’t know if your going to get in trouble or not but that was just dang funny. I have it on my watch list to see if it sells. I mean I realize that some things add value by having the box when its a collectors item. But a box for track. Is LGB track a collectors item?

!!!Made in Hungary!!!

Glad it isn’t one of them cheap Chinese boxes.

Are we missing something Pete?

Doesn’t surprise me one bit. When I worked at the LHS we used to get people who wanted the original shipping box that the LGB trains came in. And they would also want the cardboard sleeve that went over the red LGB box… We would always throw those out, but we kept a few and when they asked for them we would tell the customer that his new piece of equipment hadn’t been touched by any human hands since it left the factory… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

I guess Devon’s never heard of the “Red Box Brigade” (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

Apparently not.

“Hey John, you really need to drop by the house and check out my LGB box collection, I have everyone of the red ‘made in Hungry’ boxes. It was a pain in the butt to find someone to give the trains to so I could have a nice empty box. you won’t find another collection like this one.”

OK I am sorry I have always been on the side of the collector of strange stuff, but this rates right there with ear wax. Like I said if you have a nice rare LGB loco and you need the box to enhance it I guess but an empty track box?

LGBdude2016 also sells brake wheels and shaft for $31.00.

Made me start making my own molds.

It’s almost as bad as the R/C listings. I tried to make a point by listing a 4-40 nut and bolt for $100.00.

Never sold it but I had a bag full just in case.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I save the boxes for most of my equipment, but the box the track came in isn’t one of the boxes I keep. But much of the used stuff I bought didn’t come with boxes, and some of the new stuff I bought I bashed, so having or not having the box really doesn’t matter from an “added value” standpoint.

I save the LGB 4 foot track boxes as I can carry 5 of the shorty LGB cars in one box. Easy packing/unpacking.

I never said keeping the box you got with your equipment was a bad thing (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif). I don’t think I would but if you have the room well yeah if you go to resell it I get that.

Aww heck I collect all sorts of stuff that is not different than that red box I guess. Its worth what someone will pay for it.

Boxes? What boxes? Everyone of my LGB boxes was crushed, smashed, or burned. (Same with the other manufacture’s as well.)

I once bought an LGB tank car at a big train show. The seller’s booth was surrounded by the “Red Box Brigade” I removed the tank car and stomped the box. The look on their faces was priceless! Tossed the box in a nearby garbage can and wandered to the next booth.

Devon, I have found that having the box adds no value to the stuff I have. At least, not to any of the stuff I have sold. What the box does give me though, is something to contain the item when I ship it or hand it to the person I am selling it too.

Navy brat training, I have the boxes for the next move… even tho’ I have no plans to ever move again.

The critters have already eaten any value… beyond my fun.

John

PS; I have the Original packaging from 1968 and my US Navy imported HO Tenshodo GN S2 4-8-4. Safest way to move her. Must have been a dozen since then.

Well, guess that’s up the social ladder from being a strange collector of stuff. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Well that’s an entirely different beast. That’s practical. But no one said collecting anything was practical. I have stamps in a book that aren’t worth a darn thing and can’t even be used as postage anymore. So I guess its no different, if you really want a box. But It still is making me chuckle as I am trying to keep a straight face justifying spending $30.00 for and empty track box.

Please Devon lets us know if it sells. I thought that I would be committing some new guy blunder by putting this on here, but this is turning into a very entertaining post. At least the buyer will save money on postage since the box will be really light. Being it is a “collectors Item” do you buy a cheap USAT or AML box to ship it in?

There is a company that sells replica Lionel boxes so the Lionel guys can put their old stuff in an appropriately coloured new Lionel box.

I must be a bottom feeder because I am simply strange.

And Pete, I just checked and you can still get it if you want it. It is $21.99 and shipping is free. Buy it now. He even has a watcher. . . oh yeah wait that would be me. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Oh and its in"excellent like new condition"

Oh, I’m so excited…one “Watcher”…will he finally purchase it…oh, Devon; it’s you…oh go ahead, you might as well; you can fill it with all the stuff you might buy, and never get around to using, and it doesn’t have to be track, or LGB…go ahead…we’re all cheering for you…!!

One thing we definitely have for sure here is a cast of characters. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I’ve been saving boxes for our supposed move, but not sure that is going to happen. Good for my family to pack them in if I reach the end of the track. I’ve made an inventory, with pictures so they know what an item is and a few things about it.
