Two or three years ago, I began to lose interest in my railroad, to the point where this year I’ve only operated one train. As it’s all sitting around doing nothing, I’ve decided to sell 90%+ of my equipment. I’ll sell only as a complete lot, no piecemeal sales. The other catch – you have to come pick it up. Bring lots of bubble wrap; I don’t have any of the original boxes.
Many of these items have been winners in the mylargescale.com photo contest, the mylargescale.com calendars, and in the Rio Grande Modeling & Historical Society’s Prospector magazine.
Everything was purchased to fit the modern Rio Grande era, 1960 thru 1980, in 1:29 scale. All locomotives have been modified and repainted. The SD45’s and the SD40T-2 are currently used as dummies, but I’ve still got their motors and gears. The F3B is also a dummy.
All of the locomotives were modified to be operated with remote control and batteries, so they have no track power or pickup capabilities.
The PB Steam Generator has USA Trains GP38 trucks and an Aristo Train Engineer receiver with a 12v lead acid battery – it’s setup to operate with the F3A-B locomotives. The #65244 Rio Grande boxcar also includes an Aristo Train Engineer receiver, but no batteries. No remote controls or other batteries are included in this sale.

There’s LOTS of rolling stock. All rolling stock has metal wheels, with mostly USA Trains couplers.
This equipment has been USED! Some of it has spent months outside in our harsh Colorado climate – wind, rain, snow, severe cold. Some of it is faded. Some of it is rusted. Most of it is dusty, and some of it is downright dirty. I will make no repairs. I can throw in a bunch of used Code 250 aluminum track too, if the buyer is interested.
