Foamed PVC, styrene and acrylic glue?

My search guru isn’t working that great.
I know this question has been asked before but my key words ain’t finding it…

Foamed PVC to PVC board glue?

Foamed PVC to styrene?

Foamed PVC to Foamed PVC?

Styrene to acrylic?

Acrylic to foamed PVC?

Google says Weld on 1802.

Any other suggestions?

For PVC to PVC/styrene, I use pvc pipe cement from the hardware store. Its solvent based and gives a nice mechanical bond.

Acrylic to styrene/PVC I use SC-100.

Bob, I just did an experiment with MEK for acrylic and styrene. It actually worked. Well besides the spot that I got a drop of MEK when I dropped the strip that had MEK on it.

I have to pick up some PVC boards so I’ll grab some PVC glue as well. This foamed PVC at 3mm needs bracing.

One I’ve used in the past for dissimilar plastics

Plastruct 00003 - White Bondene Plastic Solvent Cement - 2oz 59.1mL

Less % of Methylene Chloride.

Methylene Chloride is the best for solvent welding plastics. It will weld styrene, ABS, PLA, and Acrylic to themselves or each other. Bondene has a lesser % of Methylene Chloride than Plastic Weld, and seems to be a little less volatile.

I did an experiment with foamed PVC and styrene using the PVC glue and so far it seems to be holding. It’s definitely not as strong as a MEK styrene to styrene bond but it works. I will say that PVC glue sure stinks.

The contact adhesives work very well like E6000 or 3m plastic emblem. Not as neat and clean as your liquids or CA’s though. Just make sure there is no protective film on the PVC board as it can be tough to see sometimes.
